oi, noone here is gonna remember this movie, or probably has ever seen it. on a cold november day in 1994, a movie came out into the theatres that noone knew what it was about, or what it had to do with. it was simply titled "Necronomicon" Staring Jefery Combes.
for three hours, it dragged on defacing the best lovecraft stories; The Rats in the Walls, Cool Air, and The Whisperer in the Darkness, as well as the Necronomicon itself. there are four chapters in the so-cal "Sory" of this movie; The Library: Where H.P. Lovecraft Himself goes into a heavily guarded Library of Monks, and sneeks into a room where the dreaded Necronomicon lies, and writes the three following stories from it. In "The Drowned" a man moves into an inherited hotel. Utilizing black magic (and repeating Lovecraft's famous line "That which is not dead can eternal lie, and with strange Aeons hence even death may die...") he resurrects a lost love, only to discover that the woman is actually the demon god Cthulhu in disguise. Now that is taking from several stories, not just The Rats in the Walls. Cthulhu isnt even in the story The Rats in the walls, But i guess you cant make a Lovecraft film without Cthulhu.
"The Cold" finds a reporter interviewing a woman who tells the story of her nutty family who've discovered the secret of eternal life. Unfortunately, the secret turned out to be too much for them to handle and all ended up killing one another...while the present day reporter discovers, too late, that he's destined to be the latest victim. that has a few things in common with the Story Cool Air, for the Scientist in the story does have the secret to everlasting life, but he doesnt teach it to a woman that he impregnates, he gives it to a man who suffered a heart attack in the lower level of the boarding house, and that man helps him live for ever, but has no reporter in it asking questions.
"Whispers" has a female cop pursuing a shadowy killer through a seemingly deserted wear house that turns out to be inhabited by a mysterious alien race...who plan to use the woman as a breeder.
This chapter has nothing to do with the story The Whisperer in the Darkness, in the story, there are no Mi-gos, there is no female cop, and there is no ware house. and the final part of the Library, at the end of the movie is an orrigional tale made from the writers of this movies minds. a monk enters the room that Lovecraft is sitting in, reading the necronomicon, and a cabinet opens revealing a portal through space and time. Cthulhu resides underneath the caged floor of that room, and possibly Nyarlathotep,(a demon who has am octopus tentacle for a face, and octopus tentacles for arms and legs) resides through the space and time of the cabinet. anyways, the monk fights with lovecraft until possibly Azathoth comes out of the cabinet, at which time Lovecraft puts the monk infront of the cabinet, and litterally Pulls the skin off of the monks head by Holding the upper lip of the Monk and pulling it towards the back of his neck, revealing the muscle system of his face and everything, and Azathoth takes the monk as the sacrafice. Lovecraft steals the book, runs out of the Library, and enters a cab. it ends right there. its a piece of crap, but i have to like it......it just..is cool to me....oi... check it out for yourselfs, you can find it on ebay once and a while....oi..i need a scrubdown after writing all of that.
