Ok, I felt like creating this one to be all contrary. This is for movies that everyone around you hates, and maybe you understand that it is, from a cinematic standpoint, terrible. Yet you just can't help but love it. Me, I like Matrix 2 and to a lesser extent 3. There was still plot stuff that can be analyzed, and the best fight scenes in the series are in 2 (highway chase, castle fight, Burly Brawl). 3 is pretty bad but not as much as everyone says. Besides, you've got to know how it ends. |

With me it's the Matrix sequels, like DG, and Star Wars Episodes 1, 2, and 3. They're really not that bad, people.

Yeah, I liked White Noise. Scared the crap outta me. And people say a lotta crap about how Napoleon Dynamite didn't have a plot--but I frickin' love it. I have a Vote for Pedro T-shirt, an Endurance hoodie, & a pair of Moon Boots. And I talk like Napoleon sometimes, too. |

Heh, I almost created this very thread when I saw SR's the other day (though it could probably go just as well in the Guilty Pleasures thread). Mine: Hackers. I know I shouldn't like this movie--the acting is sub-par and even when it came out I could recognize the torrent of technical inaccuracies (in fact, they go way beyond inaccurate and straight into, er, something else)--but heck, it's a fun film! And I own it.

I haven't seen that one, but I really enjoyed Blair Witch Project even though now everybody's retroactively disowned it. |

I shouldn't like the original Batman movie, but I do. It's so...generically funny. I still have no idea why it seems that no one likes the Star Wars Prequels. |

Whenever I go off on criticizing a movie, folks usually bring me back to earth by mentioning my love of 'Savage' Steve Hollands movies (Better Off Dead, One Crazy Summer). They epitomize the stupid teen comedies of the 80's, but I like 'em anyways. Oh yeah, and I'm also unashamed to admit I'm a fan of Ernest movies. Once again showing my weakness for generally stupid humor. Sexy_Sakura wrote: This is severely embarrassing.....
On Golden Pond. Nothing to be embarrassed about, that was good film with great acting from generally the whole cast. Okay so it was mostly Katharine Hepburn and Henry Fonda, but still... -Krazed Squirell |

Brother Bear. Dig that movie. I also love the soundtrack--Phil Collins = good. Also, I noticed that the critics really hated Chicken Little, but I thought that movie was a riot. I am so buying the DVD. Chicken Little crooning "We Are The Champions" = priceless. |

Yeah, the new STar Wars movies were cool. I mean the acting wasn't all that great, but the special effects were cool. I hated Jar Jar, though. |

I think it was because the movie prefered to focus on Peter Parker as a character instead of putting in as many battle scenes as possible. |

Yes. A lot of people don't like it because Jim Carey didn't do his normal "slightly smarter than a bag of dog crap" character. It's the same reason a lot of people don't like Big Daddy. And Jesty, you are right. Phonebook ROCKS!!! Kiefer Sutherland proves that he isn't awesome only because of Jack Bauer.. Colin Farrell is one of those guys that could play a lamp post and still be awesome. That movie was just a case of awesome plus awesome equals more awesome.. |

I thought Big Daddy was just a forgettable movie. Punch-Drunk Love, on the other hand, is a masterpiece. |

Maybe I just liked it because of Kevin Smith's cute ex.. I haven't seem Punch Drunk Love yet. I've been told I should, but somehow, when I'm at Lackluster, er Blockbuster, and I have a romantic comedy in my hand, I feel less manly. |

Don't think of it as a romantic comedy, 'cause it doesn't really fit even remotely into that mold. |

I'll rent a random "Bruce Willis makes things explode for no reason" action movie too, just in case.

Had I been on the Academy Awards council, or whatever they have, I would have nominated Spider-Man 2 for best picture. That's how awesome it was. |

oi, noone here is gonna remember this movie, or probably has ever seen it. on a cold november day in 1994, a movie came out into the theatres that noone knew what it was about, or what it had to do with. it was simply titled "Necronomicon" Staring Jefery Combes. for three hours, it dragged on defacing the best lovecraft stories; The Rats in the Walls, Cool Air, and The Whisperer in the Darkness, as well as the Necronomicon itself. there are four chapters in the so-cal "Sory" of this movie; The Library: Where H.P. Lovecraft Himself goes into a heavily guarded Library of Monks, and sneeks into a room where the dreaded Necronomicon lies, and writes the three following stories from it. In "The Drowned" a man moves into an inherited hotel. Utilizing black magic (and repeating Lovecraft's famous line "That which is not dead can eternal lie, and with strange Aeons hence even death may die...") he resurrects a lost love, only to discover that the woman is actually the demon god Cthulhu in disguise. Now that is taking from several stories, not just The Rats in the Walls. Cthulhu isnt even in the story The Rats in the walls, But i guess you cant make a Lovecraft film without Cthulhu. "The Cold" finds a reporter interviewing a woman who tells the story of her nutty family who've discovered the secret of eternal life. Unfortunately, the secret turned out to be too much for them to handle and all ended up killing one another...while the present day reporter discovers, too late, that he's destined to be the latest victim. that has a few things in common with the Story Cool Air, for the Scientist in the story does have the secret to everlasting life, but he doesnt teach it to a woman that he impregnates, he gives it to a man who suffered a heart attack in the lower level of the boarding house, and that man helps him live for ever, but has no reporter in it asking questions. "Whispers" has a female cop pursuing a shadowy killer through a seemingly deserted wear house that turns out to be inhabited by a mysterious alien race...who plan to use the woman as a breeder. This chapter has nothing to do with the story The Whisperer in the Darkness, in the story, there are no Mi-gos, there is no female cop, and there is no ware house. and the final part of the Library, at the end of the movie is an orrigional tale made from the writers of this movies minds. a monk enters the room that Lovecraft is sitting in, reading the necronomicon, and a cabinet opens revealing a portal through space and time. Cthulhu resides underneath the caged floor of that room, and possibly Nyarlathotep,(a demon who has am octopus tentacle for a face, and octopus tentacles for arms and legs) resides through the space and time of the cabinet. anyways, the monk fights with lovecraft until possibly Azathoth comes out of the cabinet, at which time Lovecraft puts the monk infront of the cabinet, and litterally Pulls the skin off of the monks head by Holding the upper lip of the Monk and pulling it towards the back of his neck, revealing the muscle system of his face and everything, and Azathoth takes the monk as the sacrafice. Lovecraft steals the book, runs out of the Library, and enters a cab. it ends right there. its a piece of crap, but i have to like it......it just..is cool to me....oi... check it out for yourselfs, you can find it on ebay once and a while....oi..i need a scrubdown after writing all of that. |

You mean the one from the 60s starring Adam West, or the Tim Burton one from the 80s that had Jack Nicholson as the Joker? For me..."The Game" starring Michael Douglas and Sean Penn, directed by David Fincher (1997). People I know really disliked this movie, but I love it. I like movies that mess with your head that way...like with Arlington Road, as well. I also like the two Saw movies, the two X-Men movies, and The Secret of N.I.M.H....all of which I've heard less-than-favorable reviews for from my peers. |

Bah, that's a totally watchable popcorn movie, and David Fincher is a quality director. |
