Those are some odd names... you sure about that? Your choices will probably change in a few years. I've liked the name Ally for a girl. |

If I had a boy, I'd probably name him either Nikolai or Nicodemus. I like Nicodemus a bit more, since my son probably wouldn't want to have the same name as a character in the novel I'm writing. (Albiet, I didn't name Nick, though Nikolai is my favorite boy's name...) If I had a girl, I'd probably name her Jeanne after Joan of Arc. |

So far I have a son named Noah and a daughter named Tess. For the future, we've thrown around so many names it's not even funny anymore. However, ones we have considered in the past (and maybe still considering? My wife knows best which names have been ruled out) include Owen, Jack, and Tate for a boy, and for a girl, Rory and Emma. |

Well, if I ever have a son, his name'll be John. That'll make him John J. Whatever-My-Last-Name-May-Or-May-Not-Be IV. As for girls, I dunno. We'll see, I suppose.

Oh, no. I know that, at least at my school, a kid with that name would be mocked and tortured ENDLESSLY. Anyway, my first boy's name would probably be Zephyr James, and my first girl Marselie Kathleen. |

That kid would not last an hour. Me, I think I'll name my kids after Frank Zappa's kids: Moon Unit, Dweezil, Ahmet, and Diva Muffin. Okay, I'm lying, I'd never name my kids that, but isn't it great that he did? At one point (like when I was 13) I thought of naming a boy-child Raven and a girl-child Pandora, but that seems equally ill-advised and anyway the "box" jokes would not have been pleasant. I'm fond of my own name and might pass it on. I've also thought about passing on my middle name a son's first name. As for daughters, I've always had a fondness for Elizabeth, in part due to its versatility. If I end up having any kids with my current girlfriend (she'd presumably be a wife at that time), I would like to give her name to our potential daughter. Passing on girls' names isn't done so much, but it's such a good name. |

Kids with the name Zack often are troubled and crazy. *points to Teff* *runs*
As for names I'd give children, I'd name boys possibly "Jake", "Robert", "Jack". As for girls, maybe "Laura", "Alex(andra-ia?)", or maybe "Sarah". I've always liked the name Sarah for some reason. |

The chances of me having children are small. Very small. But I would love to have one. For a girl: Emily
For a boy I would ask my wife. |

I'd probably name any child of mine after one of my friends. So, my 1st born boy would probably be Trevor, Mike, or Zach. And my 1st born girl would probably be Tiff, Anne, or Kasey. Who knows, though.

If I ever have a boy, I'm gonna name him Roswell. After the place, not the show. There are too many Johns in this world, and not enough Roswells. If I ever have a girl, I'll either name 'er Danielle, Rebecca, or Mae. And then, I'll call her Maeby. |

Felix, Frederick or Edmund. Poor Felix and Frederick, their names don't mix well with my last name. And Alyssa, Emma or... Can't think of another name. |

That's just cruel. Totally cruel. As a rule of thumb, if you want to name your child after a pop culture character, you should ask yourself if you would have wanted to be named after a pop culture character from your parent's days... I'm thinking of Benjamin Eric for a boy... Not sure what Holly has picked out for a girl. Either way, I hope it's not a strange spelling of a normal name. I hate that. The kid will, too, when nobody spells their name correctly. |

Laura and Sarah both happen to be cousins of mine, and coincidentally also the names of two of the biggest crushes I've had. So obviously I'd agree they're good choices. I think my three top girl choices have always been Nancy, Jane and Amy (no I did not decide that because of you know who... ), and the top three guy names probably Gary, Kevin and Xavier. Though I'll likely never have kids, so these will more likely be used as fictional characters in my songs...

Maybe this should be in the Pet Peeve thread, but.. Holy cow not many things bother me more than people MAKING UP NAMES for their children. Or even worse, adding silent "q"s and "x"s to make their child "unique". NEWS FLASH! You're not making your kid unique, you're ensuring that your child gets teased mercilessly from the first day he or she sets foot on the playground. Honestly, Mickheayl? Derikqhe? Who ARE these parents? And as StrongRad said, naming your child after some lame pop-culture phenom will suck for them in about 5 years. And since the child will probably live another 70 years after that, what are you doing? Do you really think the name Gimli or (heaven forbid) Paris will be cool 50 years from now? ARGH! |

Hey, I would be totally fine with it if my parents named me Jimmy Page. |
