Who from the past would you want to talk to?

I for one would like to have a chat with Theodore Roosevelt. He grew up in a fairly well to-do family, got married, had kids, then his wife dies. He gets so depressed that he leaves the kids with his mother and goes out west to be a cowboy. When the Spanish-American War starts, he gathers up a buncha volunteers, buys all their equipment with his own money, and even bribes his way onto a troop transport so he can get into the action before it's all over.

There'd be a lot of historical figures that i'd love to meet. Mostly because I'm a history buff. History rules.

Hitler.

Not kidding. I just wanna know HOW that brain of his worked, you know? It's one of those nagging, morbid curiosity type deals.

Amen to that! I just switched my major to History this semester, and so far I haven't regretted it.

Actually, his brain was way beyond messed up. He was gassed in WW1, suffered from Parkinsons, he was paranoid, among tons of other things. to say he was a little wacked in the upstairs is the understatement of the year.

Neil Armstrong and Yuri Gagarin.

Too bad Gagarin is dead. I would have killed to meet the first man in space.

Meeting Armstrong is a life goal of mine. Too bad he hates publicity.

Didn't T.R.'s wife and mom die the same day? (I'm studying him now in History class. =B)

But, um. It'd be cool to meet Einstein. Or any sort of scientist. I'm into geeky stuff. D:

Yeah, Einstein was a genius. Seriously.

I'd also like to meet Benjamin Franklin or Thomas Edison. Very bright inventors.

Does Jimi Hendrix count as a historical figure?

Oh. And Hitler. Like Mu.

I mean, then I could kill him myself! :D

No, seriously. I'd like to find out what's up with that guy.

I'd like to meet Joan of Arc, William Shakespeare, and Mary Shelly.

Joan of Arc: There's been talk and research and speculation about whether or not Joan of Arc was a skitzophrenic, which is an interesting notion, but personally, I'd like to hear the gal herself tell it. Regardless of whether or not she was divinely inspired or she was a few horses short of a calvary seems to be undermining the point a bit, which is that what she did was incredible at any rate. I'd also like to hear her take on what courage is, and where it comes from. I think I'm something of a coward myself, so I'd like to hear what she thinks courage is.

William Shakespeare: Creativity and wit? Nice package. He seems like one of those people who would've been just fun to sit and talk to. And, I appreciate someone who's contributed so many words to the language I made my craft of. XD

Mary Shelly: Two reasons for choosing this gal, and one of them is actually more of a coincidence than anything else. The first reason is because she is the mother of the sci-fi genre, and because what I'm writing is sort of a "scientific fantasy," I'd like to talk with her about applying science in unproven, speculative areas, inspiration, and other such writerly things. Out of all the classical writers, she seems like the one I could "gel" with best. The cheesy reason I chose her is because we both have the same birthday. :P Go August 30th! You're the best day of the year, man!

I'd like to meet some of the Roman Emperors. Caesar(I'll keep him away from the Senate on March 15th), Augustus, Tiberius, Titus, Vespasian, Hadrian and Constantine. Those are the ones I want to meet.

I would really like to meet Emmitt Till. I want to find out the truth about what happened to him.

It's strange that two different men come to mind at the top of my list: Jesus and Mozart.

Jesus, because I'd want to see him for myself--no hearsay, no thousands of years of distance, getting stuff lost through translations through multiple languages. Just that dude, himself, sitting in with his followers of the time to hear ALL of what he had to say.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, because he was a freakin' genius--in fact, considered by some historians to be the smartest person to have ever lived (though I don't know how one can really guage such a complex thing). I'd want to introduce him to what has become of music since he died...for whatever reason (maybe its his more 20th Century personality as Tom Hulce portrayed him in the movie Amadeus), I think he'd be into jazz.

Niehls Bohr and Emma Goldman, I think that's a good start. After that, I'd like to meet up with Orwell or maybe some of the Spanish Republicans from '36.

Well, no. I don't. That's probably the most accurate quote anyone has ever said.

Uhm, I guess Walt Disney. I'm an aspiring film maker and my goal is to create a film company using Flash animation, Photoshop Effects, etc. as a primary tool for moviemaking. This would be fairly revolutionary... just like Disney taking animation from short subjects to full-length movies, I'd be taking flash from AlbinoBlackSheep and Newgrounds to the big screen.

I guess he's just a personal idol, of mine, that's all.

Oh, and DisneyWorld totally pwns, too.

I'm a History major...so this topic pleases me. There are a lot of people I would love to meet, but two stand above all else:

William Lyon Mackenzie King
Pierre Elliot Trudeau

For those of you not in the know (concerning Canadian History) they were former Prime Ministers.

On a non-Canadian level I would like to meet

Winston Churchill
FDR (he's my fav U.S. president)

Not necessarily buffs, we just know our way around the past. (Sort of. I tend to flounder at the history questions in Trivial Pursuit.) Thinking about it, you know who else I might like to meet? Renee Descartes. I find his logical system to be confusing, yet fascinating. Nothing cannot surely exist except me, because I think, and therefore I must be. Hard to wrap your head around, but cool.

Lewis and Clark, man.
Lewis. And. Clark.

And you know...like everyone thats ever been in a conspiracy theory. Leonardo da Vinci, Jesus, people I can't think of at the moment, and maybe that Lost Girl of Saint Nicolas girl from Island Of The Blue Dolphins. (she wasn't in a conspiracy)

Hmmm...that's a toughie. I'm not a history buff by any stretch of the imagination.

But I might have to say George Washington. I mean, he was the first president, and a war hero. It'd be cool to see what he was like in person. And maybe Abe Lincoln as well.

But, seriously, I would really like to meet Lincoln as well. And also people like Jesus, Leonardo da Vinci, Galileo, Einstein, Thomas Jefferson, or Franklin D. Roosevelt.

This is the ultimate shoooowwdown of ultimate destiny. Good guys, bad guys, and explooosions, as far as the eye can see... okay, sorry. xD

Y'know what I thought about? It'd also be cool to talk to Sigmund Freud. (I love psychology =B) That would be fun.

Psychologist insults. XD Personally, I'd love to get a bunch of psychoanalysts in the same room and see what they do to each other...
