In case you didn't notice, today, March 14, (known as 3/14 in the U.S. I think it might be the other way around in Europe. I don't know.) Anyway, I thought it would be interesting to make a thread to the tribute of pi on its one day out of the year, so talk about any interesting topics that are about pi here. I'd rather you not just post like 1000 digits of pi. That's really, really, boring. So, anyway, Happy Pi Day! And enjoy your pie

Yeah, we noted pi day only briefly today. But I remember back when I was in lower grades, it was a big to-do. Maybe I should get a pi shirt... |

This Pi Day was AWESOME. A bunch of people baked pies and brought 'em in- (me included: blueberry lattice pie with tons of whipped cream) and we ate them in Math class. We had pretty much every kind of pie you could imagine. You know what was hysterical? Walking down the hallway with a pie in hand. Everyone I passed glanced at the pie as they approached. Everyone. |

8th graders used to get pie on pi day. Then school funds ran low. And then the Standardized Math test got scheduled for today.

We did some stuff for Pi Day at school. At lunch they gave us these small table talk pies, and in Math our teacher gave out soem extra credit problems involving Pi. We also had this stupid assembly during 2nd period, though, where we sang a Pi Day song. Ugghh... Pi Day Song?? |

Thanks for wrecking my computer, Stu! Now it goes really slowly. But it was cool anyhoo. We have pi in one room on a poster that goes all around the room. I think it's 100 digits then it just goes '...' and finishes. |

I was going to make a topic about this...
One of the kids in our Algebra II class brought in an apple pie for us to enjoy. And enjoy it we did. And now, here's something for the kids: http://keithschofield.com/pi/std.html (Note: has some profanity. Not actually for kids.) |

A-HA! So that explains it! In the middle of Chem, the teacher's aide from one of the other classrooms in our science building randomly appeared with several pieces of various varieities of leftover pie. I downed a slice of pumpkin and didn't question it until now... |

Interesting things about pi? Ok, how about this: e^(2pi*i)=1 The sum of the infinite series (square root of (6/n^2)) starting at 1 is equal to pi. |
