If Seanbaby ever dies, I nominate you, Santa zeno, to be the air to his throne.
For me, Action 52.

I really hated that one Super Mario Game on the Gameboy Advance. It was impossible! I never beat it to this day. And yes, Tiny Tanks did suck. Since I didn't buy that many games back when the PS1 was still popular, I don't have much to comment on. I just rented games a lot.

Ehh? What's wrong with pinball? A good pinball game's as much fun as the real thing, and it doesn't cost as much or take up as much space!

Which reminds me... Although I rolled my eyes back far enough in my head to till the Earth slightly out of orbit when I first heard about it, I revoked the "should never have been made" title from Metroid Prime Pinball after playing it and deciding that it was actually pretty good, if an exceedingly goofy idea.

Though I do think that SOME pinball games were better off being left in the dust. KISS Pinball? Unecessary!

Three words. Super Princess Peach.

When I first saw it in the Photo phile in Game Informer about a year ago, I thought it was going to be the worst game ever. Was I ever wrong. It's actually a very good platformer. It's got the nice humor of all the Mario games, and great controls and gameplay. I really enjoy it.

Now, for games that never should have been made, I would say Suikoden Tactics. Not that it was too horrible, but Konami did not put nearly as much effort into it as they did for the other four (soon to be five!) Suikodens. It really disappointed me.

Fun House... It was supposed to be based on the game show, but had NOTHING to do with the show. That, in itself is bad, but making the "nothing to do with the show" something as dumb as it was, well, that's even worse.

Anyone ever heard of The Horrid Demon, for the Gameboy?

Holy. Crap.

It's got a pathetic story, and maybe two levels, and the easiest fights. You can beat it in literally under 2 minutes. IT IS A FULL GAME. I OWN IT. ARGHH. (But luck is with me-- it's on a 120-full-game cartridge thing. So the other, non-sucky games make up for it.)

HORRID DEMON INDEED. D:

P.S. Cool Spot pwns you. :(

Really? Well, that's a relief. I was kinda feeling sorry for any suckers who actually bought it.

But then why was it on my cartridge of other full games, like Pokemon and Paper Boy and all that?

That's... weird.

....

Crap, why must you make me question the origin of my nice things? D: I have to go find the box now.

Oh, thought of this other game. It's a really old arcade game that I can't remember the name of, but it involved catching eggs... or something. It was really short and boring and pointless. =/
I think the name was "Birdie Nest", or something.

Sounds like one of an infinite number of weird games that you see at pizza places for tickets. You know, with the spinning stearing wheels?

What about games that were in themselves nothing special, but spawned better things? The original Kirby's Dream Land for Game Boy was kind of a sad game. No save feature, only five levels, and you could beat it in around 10 minutes. But the Kirby series itself is wonderful, and it would never have come to us without that first, puny little game. So I really don't know what to say about that one.

WHAAAAT??!!?&,:;%${} That's a classic game there!

Anyways, I'm sure some of you have heard of Action 52 (for NES and Genesis).
That game defines horrible gameplay! It's like a collection of really really bad (broken) minigames you might find as sub-games in some bigger game.

I'll give it :poop: :poop: :poop: :poop: :poop: / 5 on the crappiness scale.

Also, I've said "game" seven times in this post.

I can't believe I left out my old CoCo 3 games. Behold...

Castle of Tharoggad

Image
3D maze game where you played a guy with a really weak heart. If you got hit by an enemy, fought an enemy, or even just moved too much, your heart would beat faster and faster until you passed out. Also you can see how wonderful the graphics are. In case you're wondering, the one in front is a spider and the one in back is a bat. Both done by Jimmy, Age 7.

Mind Roll

Image
This is one of those games where you wonder if the guy who made it was all there. You played an 8-ball...that jumps! Well only about 3 or 4 times. The object was to roll your way out of frustrating mazes that pretty much made no sense. Fun.

So, as this is a topic about bad games, there is one game that I MUST talk about here.

Ladies and gentlemen, meet Hydlide, your worst freaking nightmare.
In this game, a dragon called Boralis has divided the princess into three fairies. You are Jim (what a heroic name!) and your quest is to find the fairies, slay Boralis and bake a cake for your grandmother. Ok, maybe not the last one, but I don't know, I haven't ever finished the game, it's just too frustrating for me to even bother. The graphics are horrible, there is only one song, blah, blah, blah. The dang thing is also pretty infamous on the net for being so crappy.

Anyways, Flying Omelette can describe this game much better than I can.

Augh, beaten to it! This was exactly what I was going to say, I've never played a game that fails so hard in pretty much EVERY aspect in my entire life. The NES version, anyway. The Genesis one is actually semi-sorta-playable.

Though it's actually pretty amusing, because the creators were sure it was going to be the "next big thing" and it's one of those things that's actually SO bad it's hilarious...

i liked the first bubsy game

Sounds like Marble Madness, but with a jump. I could never fathom why people were so keen on Marble Madness.

Actually I liked Marble Madness, it had some neat ideas attached to it and it was pretty fun once you got the controls down pat.

Edit: And now a check of the scores...

Mario Is Missing

That game is evil. It doesn't even deserve the title of video game. I mean, it's just some lame edutainment that has you do the same kind of puzzle about twenty-or-so times.

It being a Mario game only made it worse. Because then you bought it. I know I did, when I was young, hoping for a brand new totally awesome Super Mario World-esque gaming experience, where Luigi would actually get to shine. But I was betrayed.

And I'm homeschooled, so educational games like this would have normally be counted as schoolwork back then. But no mother in her right mind would ever allow a game with "Mario" in the name to count as required schoolwork, even if all it did was teach. It's not the same as Carmen freakin' Sandiego. If this game starred pretty much any other lesser-known character, it could have at least had this going for it.

And you can't even get hurt. All the bad guys... bosses... you can jump on them to inflict damage, but they can't hurt you. Habila-wha?!

Most people love Marble Madness because it was uber challenging. I LOVED that game. Most of my friends lacked the coordination to play it, so I could totally pwn them. Same with RC Pro-Am.

Oh man, RC Pro-Am. That one was an acquired taste.

Anyone remember an old arcade game that used holograms. You played a cowboy who could just stand there and shoot at enemies that came at you from off-screen. The game used Full Motion Video and looked neat, but had horrible controls and was rather boring.

The beyblade games for the GameCube and the GBA. I bought BOTH of them; the GCN one is frustrating, and the GBA one is even more frustrating.

I still can't believe I bought them ~_~ Perhaps it was a good idea the rest of the games stayed in Japan.

Also, the Yu Yu Hakusho game. I got it for Hanukkah like two years ago, and I beat it in 3 days or so. Way too short, way too stupid.

And the first Legacy of Goku game. Mostly because you can beat it rather quickly if you use the easy-to-do invincibility trick. The second one and it sequel were pretty good (the only good DBZ games for the hand-helds, as I'm pretty sure the Supersonic Warrios and that Gameboy Color game suck).

Yes, I remember to watch X-Play before I buy any games now. I thank them for crossing the Naruto Gamecube game off my list.

But not all outsystem Nintenspinoffs were bad. Man, I remember back in elementary school, on our old Macs, we had "Mario's Game Gallery" with, like, checkers and go fish and stuff. Silly, I know, but to me, man, that was the awesomest stuff EVER back then. I still love seeing the cute little Yoshies get kinged...

YES. I played that too! :D

As bad as Mario is Missing was, Mario's Time Machine was worse... all you did was talk to people and answer questions about history, and for some reason Mario is like 1/8th the size of all the important historical people you meet. o_O

I do remember playing Mario Teaches Typing at school though. :P As dorkie as it sounds, it actually did help me with my typing...
