You can't do that with mere technology, it's obviously powered by magic!
Cool never the less.

Um...can that actually be possible?

I think you've been duped my friend. Remember, ThinkGeek also sells the Grow Your Own 1-Up Mushroom Kit.

Can you really blame me, though? ThinkGeek comes out with awesome stuff.

I knew it was fake, ever since I saw this:

Warning: Even though these microwaves are about as harmful as the leakage from an ordinary microwave oven (not much), do not put computers, televisions, other sensitive electrical equipment, food, liquids, paper, glass, flammable substances, magnets, or living things in between the base and satellite units. Just in case.

pfft! anything wireless needs a battery at the other end, so why not just buy a battery backup.

That's pretty cool. But I don't think my family needs it. We only use extension cords for yard work and outside stuff. We don't need it that often, and we don't consider it a hazard.

Oh man, I almost thought those were for real... To be honest, I didn't actually read any of it, just looked at the headline and thought Wow, can they DO that?

Your average microwave oven runs at around 700-1000W. That can boil a glass of water in about 30 seconds.

Your average computer can run at around 500W. That means, to provide that much power, you'd need a 500W microwave beam, minimum.

At least in Australia, power points are rated to 2400W. That's a metric crapload of microwaves flying through the air.

"These microwaves are about as harmful as the leakage from an ordinary microwave oven" - they forgot to mention the part where you remove all the shielding from the microwave, and then make a hole in the door, stick your head through it and turn it on. ;)

It's not much stranger than inductive charging. Too bad it's not real.
