What is the most beautiful movie ever made?

Ick, it's the only Miyazaki film I don't like. I could only watch through half of it before I shut my television off.

Anyways, it's not a film, but a specific scene that I find beautiful. It's also my favorite scene in this film.

In Spirited Away, the Train scene with Chihiro and No Face riding along the ocean and seeing various things and people.

The music fit it perfectly, it had a very sad sound in it.

There are times when I will wake up in the morning and just watch this scene.

Saddest movie: I don't know, but Animal Cops shows have made me cry. I mean it's not beautiful, it's sad.

I saw that, that movie was awesome! I just hated how it was all in Japenese and you needed to read subtitles.

That was a Chinese movie, not Japanese (much less Japenese). And anyway, I'd take subtitles over crappy dubbing any day.

Funny thing about dubbing in Disney...in "Beauty & The Beast," when Lumiere (sp?) says "Zutolo [sp?], she 'as emerged!", they had to rewrite that line for the French dubbed version of the film, since "Zutolo" is apparently a French curse word....

First of all, Disney had nothing to do with it.
And secondly, I think he was very good for a voice actor lip syncing to anime, or did you just not like him 'cos he didn't have a strong enough accent?

Er.. Disney had everything to do with it. It did the U.S. distribution and I guarantee you it was responsible for the dub. It even says so on IMDb: "Buena Vista Pictures (2002) (USA) (dubbed)" (in case you're a little behind, Buena Vista = Disney = Buena Vista). Disney also did the dubbing and distribution for Princess Mononoke, Howl's Moving Castle, and seven other Ghibli films, though I suspect some of the older ones were dubbed prior to the deal. Actually, I think Buena Vista does a prooty good job of doing the Dubs. The dialogue almost always makes sense, and they choose good voice actors, IMO. I actually really like Haku's voice.

Quite a few of those have CGI but I like them just the same. Some movies would just look terrible without CGI. Imagaine doing Lord of the Rings with no CGI.

You know, and I think I know why Miyazaki is so beautiful. If you look at Miyazaki's art, it's a lot more minimalistic than other anime art. He doesn't have gonzo clothing folds, minute muscle detail, or draw every strand of hair on his charatcer's heads. (Mostly. There are a few exceptions, like Yubaba in Spirited Away.) This is actually fantastic. For one, it lets the beautiful backgrounds stick out more, and secondly, it doesn't bog your eyes down. It doesn't create a dichotomy between the visuals and the story, which can happen--it lets them blend together beautifully.

I coulda just watched Pinocchio instead and gotten the same basic story without being bored to death. YES! YES! YES!
Whenever I watch that scene, I want to cry my eyes out. In fact, I do. In fact, I'm crying right now just thinking of it. Oh my god, I have to watch that movie again. The most beautiful thing.

I would say Princess Mononoke, but I have seen that movie too many times, and I don't like it as much anymore. It is a good movie, but the magic is lost.
