Okay, Number A, I have read some of the farside books and comics and they are pretty good. Perhaps it needs to be added. Maybe Doonesbury needs to be added to. Maybe.
Number B, HOW CAN YOU NOT KNOW WHAT BLOOM COUNTY IS!?!? It's like the only comic that comes close to Calvin and Hobbes!!! It was around from about 1981-ish to 1989. It starred Opus the penguin, the same one in "Opus" the strip, and it was made by Berke Breathed, one of the greatest cartoonists of our time.
Number C, A lot of people probably don't know Life in Hell, because it's not a common newspaper comic. It's made by Matt Groening, the creator of The Simpsons, and there are a lot of book collections out. Read one sometime.
Number D, I put Garfield as low as I did because it's gotten so repetitive. It was great when it started, but now not so much.
Number E, Dilbert's not that good. It go offa list.
Number F, here's the newly revised top eight comics ever.

I love C&H. I'm glad it stopped though, before it went so far as to "jump the shark."

I'd say my top three comic strips would be:

1. Calvin and Hobbes
2. Zits
3. Far Side

My favorites sort of "fluctuate" a bit over time, but curerently is my "un-bottom [s]10[/s] 6":

1. Doonesbury
2. Dilbert (yeah, the creator is a jerk, but it's still funny)
3. The Far Side
4. Get Fuzzy
5. FoxTrot
6. C&H (yes, I know it's a bit low on the list, but it's just been neglected a bit lately)

EDIT: Oh crap, I forgot Pearls Before Swine! Now, how is THAT possible? (I'm too lazy to change a lot of numbers, so I'll say it'd go between probably 3 and 4.)

Calvin and Hobbes was the best comic strip ever drawn. Nothing today can compare to it. A friend of mine had a theory that Jeremy in Zits was actually Calvin, and that Calvin betrayed Hobbes or something. My least-favorite comic has to be Red and Rover. I think they took out the Calvin and Hobbes reprints in my local paper for it. R&R just isn't funny. It attempts to be some kinda weird cross between C&H and Garfield (which is WAAAAY to comercial for my tastes), but the kid is your average kid, and the constant idiotic look on that dog's face just annoys me.

I read Bloom County when I was younger too, but I haven't seen it in forever. I love Get Fuzzy, though. I've read C&H over and over again, so I've been concentrating more on CF lately.

Other than that, I don't really read comics.

Oh, except The Castlefunnies.

You're totally not close-minded about people's opinions at all. :rolleyes:

My top three?
1. C&H
2. Bloom County
3. The Far Side

All retired, I know. As far as active comics go, I like The Duplex, Pearls Before Swine, and The Flying McCoys. I used to like Garfield, but it's really gone downill. Now it's just all about Jon not being able to get a date.

I was thinking about C&H, and I don't think there's a single strip I don't like in some way or another. Which contributes to the fact that I'm such a huge C&H nerd. Seriously, read me the first couple panels, and I know which strip it is, and what the punchline is.

Well, Zits is pretty good. It can't beat the first 7 comics on that list, but maybe it beats FoxTrot. Hard to say. And Get Fuzzy is definetely better than FoxTrot. FoxTrot has gotten pretty repetitive, whereas Get Fuzzy is more interesting and unique. So anyway, here is the new, extended list of the best comics in the world.

Marvin & Bitsy is the same thing. I swear, every time I read it, it's just a Calvin & Hobbes joke done with a baby and a dog.

Life In Hell, for those who don't know, is a comic about this rather cynical and embittered rabbit named Binky. Other characters include Sheba, his estranged wife (or was it girlfriend?), Binky, his illegitimate son (who, for some reason, has only one ear), and Akbar and Jeff, a pair of men who are either brothers or a gay couple. (Probably the latter.) Stuff happens, and there are random "self-help" things (though according to Matt, the self being helped is him). It's hilarious, but definitely not for kids. Like, at all.

Get Fuzzy if pretty funny, but sometimes it is just stupid. Like this week. I would rank Far Side, Calvin and Hobbes, and Garfield as always funny. The rest are only sort of funny some of the time. I guess that FoxTrot is a bit funnier than Zits. People still worship Gary Larson.

How could you put Garfield at the bottom? Seriously, if you make another crappy list, I'm going to make the mafia kill you.

I added Bloom County and Life in Hell because I felt sorry for you. If it was funny, I would have heard of it by now.

The reason you haven't heard of Bloom County is because Berke Breathed ended it in 1989. Look for some Bloom County Books, specifically "Opus-25 Years of His Sunday Best" and you'll agree that it should be as high on the list as it is. Same for Life in Hell. Try looking for The Big Book of Hell or The Huge Book of Hell. You won't regret it.

Garfield in it's prime could be pretty hilarious at times, but it's basically jumped the shark. It basically either Garfield annoys Odie, Garfield eats food, or Jon can't find a date. It's just too repetitive.

I have Peanuts as high as it is just because it ran so long and still managed to be funny the majority of the time. And Peanuts from around the '70s, when it was at it's peak, is hard to top.

Far Side is witty and sophisticated, but it cant beat any of the top 4, specifically Calvin and Hobbes. Unlike Far Side, which was just one panel, Calvin and Hobbes could still be witty and sophisticated while telling a story. Plus, it had reoccuring characters, which are important in comics.

Therefore, the list of the top ten comics of all time stays the same, except after a long deliberation last night, I decided that Garfield outranks Zits by a little bit.

4. Peanuts
5. Far Side
6. Get Fuzzy
7. Opus

Okay, I will now make a good list with facts. I also added Non Sequitir

1. Far Side, Hits you with a frenzy of black humor and strange ideas, all in one panel, it dosen't need 20
2. Calvin and Hobbes, Shows the humor in growing up from a strange little kid
3.Garfield, Not repetitive, very creative in several situations
4.FoxTrot, Shows life, from the eyes of a nerdy guy who sees life weird
5.Zits, Shows the strangeness and humor of everyone
6.Peanuts, No need for explanation, just classic
7.Opus, pretty funny, sometimes misses, very political
8.Get Fuzzy, It's like Garfield, exept more real
9. Non Sequitir, Political, almost as funny as Opus
10. Bloom County and Life in Hell, I don't know, never heard of them
