I thought I gave up the whole Dufflust thing. Do you not know that I haven't experienced Dufflust in the past 6 months?? Also, Asperger's Syndrom is what I have because I've been diagnosed with it since I was 8. The Dufflust was never existant.

You joined six months ago, and you kepty on saying that you were experiencing it, even though it doesn't exist.

Quit contradicting yourself.

And Clan, don't call other people jerks because they doubt you. It makes you an even bigger jerk, especially when thos people are our friends.

But whatever.

And yes, I don't beleive the whole "high intelligence as a part of it" stuff. That's just a sterotype, as far as I can see - smart people aren't always excluded.

But I've never heard of this before, so I'm kinda new on this....

Man! My parents used to make me take pills! They turned me into an obediant zombie! I can't remember a single second of 4th grade thanks to them! I eventually outwitted them by hideing the pills and eventually they forgot about them. And there they are to this day behind the washing machine.

I kinda have trouble believing that. I've been on meds since 2nd grade, and I was never an "obediant zombie". Not even close. Unless you were taking some REALLY strong pills.

Yeah, what the crap kind of pills were you taking anyway? Allergy medicine? :p

Actually, that Wikipedia article sounds a lot like me. My social skills are horrendous: bad eye contact, and I can never tell if people are sarcastic. People can rarely tell if I'm being sarcastic, as well. Very strong intrests and near perfect memory for the trivial? Yep. Impatienince for things besides my obessions? Pretty much. I talked like a dictionary at age three. I didn't learn to tie my shoes or hold a pencil until I was in second grade, and I couldn't ride a bike until fourth grade. And my personality type is a certain INTP.

I had never heard of it before i read this thread...look what you're making me do. I now have the sudden urge to go find out what this strange disorder is... "Quick Robin, to the popular search engine Google!"

I think I have some sort of ADD though...

--edit--
I just returned from the popular search engine Google, and I learned that AS is basicly people who aren't retarted that don't have the greatest social skills. Sounds like half of my friends...haha....

I STILL don't know the "proper" way to hold a pencil, and I get along just fine. [/tangent]

This is about the worst summary of any disorder I've ever heard.

Wikipedia wrote:
Asperger syndrome (sometimes called Asperger's syndrome, AS, or the more common shorthand Asperger's), is characterized as one of the five pervasive developmental disorders, and is commonly referred to as a form of high-functioning autism. In very broad terms, individuals with Asperger's have normal or above average intellectual capacity, and atypical or poorly developed social skills, often with emotional/social development or integration happening later than usual as a result. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asperger_syndrome)

And while you're at it, try the article on People with Asperger syndrome. Among them: Steven Spielberg, Keith Olberman, Neil Young, and Thom Yorke (of Radiohead).

About half the people in this thread are being huge jerks, not only to Clan but to everyone out there who has Asperger syndrome. Maybe try sensitivity for a change?

Was my post among those? (just checking, as I didn't intend the message which you've now proclaimed offensive)

Are you saying my summary was bad, or wikipedias? and yes, alot of people are being jerks, and i'm not understanding why... Why the crap would somebody want to prove they had a disorder? The ClanMan shouldn't have to prove to us that he has something, and shouldn't need to post a picture of his perscription. Thats retarted. You can believe him or not, but why get him to prove himself?

It also seems like alot of people have AS in this thread... I feel left out...(just kidding, haha)

Yours. I'm not retarded, and I've got less-than-fantastic social skills, but that's because of a lack of practice, not because I have Asperger's -- which I don't. By likening me, a person who can deal with his social difficulties, to a person with Asperger's, you liken a person with Asperger's to a person who can deal with his social difficulties, suggesting that they should get up and shrug it off, which is an extremely insensitive thing to suggest.

Ditto. I don't give a crap how they hold it, I'll do it however I want! :p

Hmm....some of this looks like it actually does relate to me....

I know what you're talking about, but I don't agree. By saying that those who can get rid of their difficulties may have Asperger's, you're saying that at least some people with Asperger's can get rid of them. Because while all squares are rectangles and yet not all rectangles are squares, there are some rectangles that are squares -- those we just said are squares which are also rectangles.

It was your summary that was bad, in my opinion. But I agree with you that the people who think Clan should have to prove whether or not he has Asperger syndrome need to take a deep breath and move on with their lives.

And I think that everyone in here who is saying "OMG I must have Asperger syndrome, too!" don't actually understand what the condition is about. I'm sure 90% of the people here, or in the country, for that matter, could find more than one thing they have in common with an Aspergers's sufferer, but self-diagnosis is always folly. If you truly think you have a problem, schedule a visit with your doctor. Everyone has problems, but for most of us it's not Asperger's.

Exactly, and those messed up special ED teachers are always spazzing out because I don't hold my pencil like everyone else.

So what? I can write just as fast, and my writeing looks normal.

Seriously. My school Special Ed. Peoples don't have a clue what they're doing. I could go on forever, but I won't.

...Did I mention I got pulled out of Special ed because they were harassive? And denied doing anything and saying I can't be trusted since I am "A little retarded kid"?

...Ok I'll shut up now.

As far as I know there's no significant correlation between Asperger syndrome and savant-like abilities although, as has been noted already, many people with Asperger's have above-average intelligence.

That picture is racist. I think it is a completely subliminal Ku Klux Klan way how to get you to think that all brown people are normal and all pink people have aspurgers. :trogdor: Subliminal message exposination!

I have Asberger's, too. Nobody on the internet liked me when I was really young. But then I somehow matured and became more likeable. So there's hope for Clan! :)

I don't have Asperger's, but my younger brother does. Then my two littlest siblings have autism.
