You're lucky, my parents won't let me get M games. If only I was older... and had less paranoid parents...

My parents were like that, and eventually, after some talking, I got halo. And rented halo 2, and will buy it soon.
Maybe rent it, then show it to them, and compare your worst T game to it.

I'm not sure. I'm not getting my hopes up for anything awesome.

After all, it is Microsoft.

The Microsoft motto is "If it compiles, sell it!"

:P

I plan on getting a laptop in about a year, and it'll probably have Vista on it, but frankly, I don't see what's so great about it.

"No more searching your desktop or Start menu for the right icon..." Yeah, cause it's so darn hard right now. Lemme tell you, it takes at least 3 hours to find it. [/sarcasm]

And the Direct X 10 making the XBox 360 look like baby toys? Microsoft may suck, but if there's one thing they understand it's business. They wouldn't make something that can so greatly outshine the 360 when they can just keep marketing the 360. DX10 may look good, but I can guarantee you that it won't blow the 360 out of the water.

And Halo 2, well, I really don't care much for Halo.

If it's going to be as bloated with unnecessary crap as was predicted some times ago, then I will absolutely not get it.
Besides, it's time I should try to move on to different OS' or platforms. There's the fact, however, that Windows is basically the best choice if you make music. Sure there are Macs, but the majority of freeware softsynth, for example, are mainly produced for Windows.

I dunno... my friend got a Mac laptop, and it came with Garageband, which is pretty sweet...

It's true a lot of commercial stuff is usually produced for both Windows AND Macintosh. But for people like me Windows PC is a much better choise. If I wanted to use, say, all my VST synths in a Mac I'd either have to buy clumsy VST-converting programs for Mac or forget all the stuff that's available only for Windows (in my case, about 80% of all the instruments and programs I use).

From what I hear, there isn't gonna be a start button. So that'll be different.

I felt your pain, once. It took a lot of convincing to get my parents to let me play my first M rated game, Aliens vs. Predator 2 (a freaking awesome game, despite its age). However, looking at the parents who let their 10-and-under kids play GTA, I'm glad they paid attention to the game ratings. I apprecieate being a legal adult more, and while there are times I resented my parents insistance that I not play M rated games, in retrospect I see they were doing it for my own good.

There's no way I'm buying this thing. I use Windows 2000, even though I own a copy of XP. I just like it more. That, and Windows sucks.

One that works, you mean?

At any rate, everything I've seen about Vista makes me want to use it less and less. Now, if Microsoft can turn around and deliver the Longhorn 8 months from now that they promised 3 years ago, I'll be impressed.

I should have the cash for a new computer by September or so. If I do, I'm going to do my best to keep Microsoft out of it.

Finally, the Microsoft anti-fanboys show up.

Any reasons why Windows sucks, or are you just following the crowd?

I'm not saying that Window's is the worst thing ever. I'm just saying it is pretty bad compared to other operating systems like Mac and even Linux.

And I'm definetly not following the crowd, because I use all three OS's (using Mac and Windows the most), and in my opinion, Windows is the worst out of the three.

But have you used a Mac?

And I occasionally get a virus or two while using Windows. Luckily, I have my school's anti-virus client so I can get those things off. I also get tons and tons of spyware (thank goodness for AdAware).
But have you ever heard of a Mac getting a virus?

The new Intel-Mac's blow any machine running Windows out of the water in terms of speed.

Windows doesn't even come with a up-to-standards word processing unit, or any other of the office tools for that matter. While the new Macs come with iLife '06, and other great apps and other stuff.

Dependability. I've had my Windows for two years. Its broken down 3 or 4 times. I've been using Macs since I was born, and they're computers have only broken down once. And that was with OS 9.

Despite how it sounds, I'm not the total Mac fanboy. After using Macs all my life, I was relieved to get another OS. Windows has more support for developers, and most of the software made today is for Windows. There's also the price issue, but Macs are pretty easy to get now with the Mac Mini.

Yes, and I am going to have to next semester for my digital video editing class, only because we use AVID.

hahahaa. the only things i have to say about vista:
i hope it's changed from when it was Longhorn and this kid i know had a beta that sucked real bad for a variety of reasons
no more Start button=AWESOME (but still not enough to make me like windows)
i think microsoft must be utterly unable to produce a nice-looking GUI. that's not the only reason i like my Apple, but i'd be lying if i said i didn't love the flawless looks of the software (and hardware, too come to think of it (even though i know Microsoft can't help how ugly Dell makes their computers))[/code]

Uh, Vista is going to have a Start button. The panel that appears by default when you click it is going to be a bit different, but the concept is the same.

Look at this!

Windows Vista RSoD! It looks a lot more threatening than the BSoD that we have now.

agreed tor, i'd be afraid my compy was about to explode.

not to be a jerk, but i cannot think of any Mac equivalent to BSoD, any Mac users out there know what i mean? on the old ones there was the wee lil box with the bomb in it that said "fatal error" but i cannot think of a mac OSX equivalent. no fatal errors for me! *jumps up and clicks heels*
