you know whats becoming a problem now? there are so many movies out that are based off of the Gener of Shrek and Shrek2, many 3D movies about talking animals escaping from the zoo, or just about freakin talking animals. theese types of films were good, Once, but no more! please! we need new Geners! new types of movies! just something scary for crying out loud!

I completely agree. It was kind of a novelty at first, but now the movie compaines are beating a dead horse.

the've beaten the horse so much, it came back as a zombie, but then they killed it again and continued beating it.
So, yeah, I don't like 3D kid's movies.

The Wild is proof positive that Disney should stop making movies. Period. They're just making themselves look worse. Pixar films are just plain better, with better plots, better characters, and better animation. Plain Disney movies nowadays feel cheap and soulless.

Yeah, they are kinda goin' overboard a bit with all the 3D animated kids' movies. I mean, the movie "The Wild" is pretty much "Madagascar" by Disney.

Disney needs to start being original. Fortuanatly they still haven't made a sequel to SOME of there movies...

I am sick of all these animal movies. The Incredibles, that was good, because it was about actual people. Why can't they just stop? it keeps going on and on... I mean, I was sick of it a few months ago.
It feels like something exploded and a whole lot of cute animal movies flooded the world. Go away! We don't want you!

3D animation is at a crossroads right now, and unfortunately it looks like no one but possibly Pixar has a clue as to what to do with it. The last time I went to the movies I saw trailers or print ads for at least five different talking-animal movies. (Ice Age 2, The Wild, Over the Hedge, some thing about cows, and ugggggh Garfield 2)
The entire medium is in serious danger of oversaturation and being seen as a fad, and that pains me because the possibilities for computer imaging keep getting better and better. At the same time, the big companies like Disney are entirely scrapping 2D animation, and that pains me too. They're just going for flashy colours and big budget scenes instead of trying to make movies that will be memorable and heartwarming. At this rate no one will ever take animation seriously again. ;___;

Amen. Sadly, as with the horror movie flood that's going on now, these films make money. Ice Age 2 ,which suffered from Mediocre Sequel Syndrome, still managed to stay on top of the Box Office for several weeks and many of the already released movies mentioned in this thread made a decent profit which is pretty much the only language Hollywood understands. As long as little kids drag thier parents to see the bright colors and big effects (which the major companies have in spades), these films won't go away very soon.

This is not a new phenomenon at all.
Since the beginning of the film industry, if a certain movie does well, there were dozens of copycats to follow.

True, it just seems more prevalant today especially since more of the copycats really are copycats in the sense of the glut of remakes in todays theatres.
Getting back on topic, the sad thing is that Disney used to make the movies that got copied and now it's doing the copying.

Funk, that kid probably had like...a chunk of their brain missing.

And yeah, it annoys me that Disney is scrapping hand drawn animation for this, which they don't know how to do(the animation and models in The Wild just don't appeal to me.). Pixar is pretty much the only good one.

Regardless, some of them look like they're worth a chuckle(notably Cars and Ice Age 2 wasn't too bad, either.)

I google image search'd "The Wild" to see what it was like (I don't think it was released here). It came up some pictures that were. . . unsuitable for 12 year olds.

The last film I seen of that genre was Toy Story 2, it was okay, I can't say the same for the new ones that are constantly coming out thoughBecause I don't watch 'em much.

I was just thinking about this. And we certainly can't forget about Madagascar.

And Funk, Turn on safe search. Possibly adding "Disney" into the search. Also putting "The Wild" in quotes. Google tends to cut out the word "The" out of searches. So pretty much you were searching for "Wild". Of course it's not going to be suitible for 12 year olds.

It makes me sad that there are so many 3D animations coming out as of late.

Shrek (1) and Ice Age (1) were both really well done and hilarious. With all these new ones coming out (The Wild, Over the Hedge, ect), I fear they're going to be seen as another drop in the bucket.

I'm not a big fan of 3-d animation anymore, I used to be around the time that pixar ws virtually the only ones doing it, and Disney didn't throw out the idea of hand-drawn animation. In fact, I might just boycott 3-d crapimation they're trying to sell these days.

To me, animation in the United States was at it's best in the 1980's.

Why?

Because Animantion was over eighty years old, hand-drawn Animantion could no longer innovate. You couldn't push the technology any further. So when you couldn't do that, the story, characters, and themes were expanded upon.

And with it, some of the greatest Animantion came with it.

Don Bluth, was one of those people. He was responsible for the Secret of NIMH, An American Tale, and The Land Before Time.

He believed that Walt Disney was focusing far to much on appealing to a broad audience, and that their animantion quality had sunk. He went off to prove his statement.

This Renaissance lasted untill the late 1990's, when various studio's either made there final Animations or moved over to 3-D completly. Along with Disney, who fired all of their 2-D animators in 1996.

Then there is Anime. Which I believe to be a genra of absolute grandness in every possible way. But because it's quite large, I'll list only my favorite studio in this department. Studio Ghibli.

Currently I belive that Pixar is the last hope for American Animation. But Japan, on the other hand, is still keeping up with 2-D animation.

Not all of these cutesy 3D films are total poo. I thought Chicken Little was decent.

Seriously though, The Wild looks exactly like Madagascar. It's got the same plot, with like, different animals maybe.

And I didn't really like Madagascar that much.

Animation has gone downhill a lot. The only good 2D animation I've seen lately is in cartoons... like Avatar. Some of the Naruto episodes have really great animation... like around episode 130 or so, during that fight between Sasuke and Naruto.

This 3D nonsense needs to stop. It's not even good 3D anymore: the models look awkward and cheap... But studios will never care about making these movies look good when they can pump out one of these steaming piles of CG animation in a couple of months for far less than traditional animation.

Those people might as well be saying to me, "Well, who cares about a story as long as it looks good!" All those movies are rap with a c.

I think they're stupid because instead of making 1-2 good movies a year (like pixar), they're making 10 dozen crappy movies a year instead (like Dreamworks and Disney lately). And since more movies make more profits, they get more money.
