Has anyone had a "Mind Over Matter" situation? Last night, when I went to bed, I told myself I would have a good day tomorrow. And I did. Yet it was all in my head, it was still awesome!

Well, one time I was late for a get-together, and I had to turn left across a parkway, and the light (which is very fast changing, mind you) turned yellow. I couldn't speed up, because that's a bad idea when turning, so I just yelled "OH NO YOU DON'T!" at it.

The light stayed yellow for an extra five or ten seconds.

When I was a bit younger, I used to think everything turned out the way it was because of my mind. But then I thought perhaps it turned out the way it was to the opposite of what I wanted, so I kept trying to trick my mind into thinking something else. Way too confusing. I would sit there yelling in my mind and getting totally confused.

Aw, I'm all confused now.

I thought mind over matter was like forcing yourself to do things despite the conditions of your body. Like running for 5 miles so your dad can get you a milkshake at wendy's.

yeah lu bu knows what's up. walking over hot coals, that kind of stuff.

i guess the only times that my mind has prevailed over my weak, weak body are the odd occasion that i engage in physical activity. the time i managed a 7 minute mile despite my crippling asthma (excercise-triggered, too) was nice, except i kind of collapsed afterwards. that and the very few times i have ever been in a physical fight with anyone, because if "matter" mattered, i would probably get pummeled.

Yeah, I went to the gym last night and ran on the treadmill on 5.5 for 15 minutes and 4.0 for 45 minutes. It was hard and grueling but I pushed myself and did it. Its all about the long term benefits. :)

And I'm not surprised, things like this really do work. Logically, positivity spreads, so if you act positive around others, they will be more positive, which will rub off onto you, and the whole cycle makes things a lot better. Works with negativity too, though. If you can stay in a positive mindset, things can be a lot better in your life.
