Post subject:  I Used To Believe...

This is an interesting topic that I thought of today. It's inspired by a site I went to once, www.iusedtobelieve.com. Basically, it's just a topic where people can post funny things that they used to believe. It's pretty funny to hear the stuff some people used to come up with.

According to that site, the most common beliefs are:
  • The world was black and white before colour photographs and colour TV
  • There are monsters living under your bed
  • There are monsters living in your toilet
  • If you swallow a seed a plant will grow inside you
  • People on TV shows live inside the television
  • If you play with your belly button your bottom will fall off
  • Cats and dogs are the same species
  • Factories make clouds
  • If you look into a mirror and say 'Bloody Mary' three times she will appear
  • Traffic lights are operated by creatures who live inside them
  • Ice cream vans only play music when they've run out of ice cream
  • Chocolate milk comes from brown cows
  • All songs are performed live at radio stations
  • Toys come alive when you're asleep
  • People on TV can see what you're doing
  • Drinking and driving applies to all drinks
  • The song "Bad Moon On The Rise" is actually "bathroom on the right"
  • Thunder is the sound of God bowling
  • Trees make the wind blow
  • Eating crusts makes your hair curly
  • You can die from swallowing chewing gum
  • In the alphabet, L-M-N-O-P is one letter, pronounced elemenopee
  • Salt cools food down, pepper warms it up

Oddly enough, I never believed any of those - almost believed the alphabet one, but I actually thought it was "elephants can pee..." My kindergarten teacher didn't like that much, I'd imagine. I also used to think that every time I walked a circle around something, I had to turn around and walk back the other way or I would get tangled, like I had some cord that followed me everywhere... weird, huh?

I also believed that everyone but me could read my mind, and often wondered whether or not everyone else was a robot. For a long time I thought I might be the only real person on earth, and everyone else was in some way trying to test me... Heh, my imagination got the best of me sometimes :D. Glad I'm over that now!

So, how about you guys? What are some beliefs that you had when you were a child that seem crazy now? (Please don't bring religion into it, that's not what this is about.) I'll post some more if I think of them.

It's here.It was a real pain in the butt to find, though, so I wouldn't feel horrible about not finding it.

Feel free to copy your post over to there.
