Before mods think about it, I don't think this belongs in the political forum. This should be viewed not as a political issue, but for what it is: war.

This thread is from am military forum. It contains photography from the Civil War to the present. I had to hold back tears almost the whole time, from the crushing power of war to the spectacle of awesome firepower.

Warning, Some of this gets graphic.

This is probably the most moving thread I have ever seen. I looked at all 30+ pages. It really makes you think about what it means to serve. I'm a democrat and I'm against the Iraq war, but I have more respect for our soldiers than I have for anyone else on the planet, and this thread confirms why.

If you respond, try to keep it serious. These guys, living and dead, deserve the utmost respect.

Those photographs have to be the most sobering things I have ever seen. War brings out the worst in some people, but I thank God above that it also brings out the best. I can't imagine being in a combat situation, having to make decisions that could cost the lives of myself or my comrades in arms, but there are people doing that, right now, in Iraq and elsewhere, and for fighting where others will not, I thank you, men and women of the United States Armed Forces, for greater love hath no one than he who lays down his life for a friend.

I think that one pretty much sums it up.

This one's not on there (or I don't see it), but it should be.
