Did you follow all the instructions? I have found that Norton removal tools won't work right unless you do everything just right.

If nothing works, then all I can suggest is backing up your (clean) files and reinstalling your Operating System.

I hate Norton...it tries to infiltrate itself into every nook and cranny of your computer, it causes lag and requires unnecessary reboots...it's as much as computer usurper as RealPlayer. Get AVG.

You unlucky soul. I had a simillar problem with a trojan, and I had to delete EVERYTHING. You will get over it though, it is not as bad as it seems.

FYI, viruses don't care what partition your data is on. If you can get to it, so can a virus.

It's still easier to reinstall, because most viruses just stick to killing Windows itself. If I have to reinstall Windows and wipe my C: drive, other partitions will still be there.

Try the online virus scan at http://www.bitdefender.com/. I had a virus once that corrupted the virus definitions for Symantec and disallowed me updating them, somehow or other. It also affected Windows Defender, so I imagine it could affect Norton as well. If this is the case, an online virus scan will find it, and bitdefender automatically cleans the file that's infected. (This usually means deleting the file.)

The virus I had was minor and didn't do anything of not to my system, except for disabling virus and spyware/adware scanning, but it was hella annoying.

Hope that helps ya'.

trojan. yep, i remember those. in fact, my virus program just detected one. i've got AVG free here and it seems pretty good. it detects trojans. perhaps you should get it.
