I think there is going to be a major shift in consoles in the next-generation.

For me, I'm going with the Wii.

Well, it looks like there's going to be no next-gen gaming system for me in a long while. Anything over $200 is way over my limit.

Geez, that's pretty crazy. Although I was never even thinking of buying the PS3, the chances of me getting one just went into the negatives. This is going to give the Wii a definate edge in the marketing campaign these next few years.

There is the Wii. According to Mr. Iwata the Wii will not be priced over $250. That's the prime reasion I'm getting the Wii.

I agree though, even if I wanted a PS3 or Xbox 360, the price is way over my head. The Wii's much better, but I still might have to wait until it drops another fifty dollars.

Why do you guys always rip on any game consol that's not nintendo?
The price might be a little overboard, but you will get way much more for it.



You know, it could be that Sony came out with it first, and the wii is ripping off Sony. Just because you hear of one first doesn't mean it came out first. They also could have came out at the same exact time. They're looking for something new to add to it.

The only reason you guys really like gamecube and nintendo cause it has all of those nerdy zelda games.

And PS:the graphics SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually, I like it for more than that. I've never played Zelda.

Oh, and I own a PS2 and an X-Box as well as the Cube. Each system has it's own, unique feature about it. I'm not saying that one's better than the others, I'm saying that each system is better than the others in one way or another.

But everyone has their favorite console. Nintendo fits me. The Xbox and Playstation line fit those who like it best as well.

I'm sticking with my PC, as I always have. I wasn't impressed with the last generation, and I'm not impressed with the next one.

All of my systems are Nintendo, and because I'm a Nintendo fan all the way (or is that all up ons?) I'm gonna get me a Revolution. I mean a Wii. Whatever.

Me: Nintendo fangirl, but I have nothing against Sony. Kingdom Hearts, Katamari Damacy, Loco Roco... good stuff, man. Good stuff.

But maaaan, that's just waaay too much to pay for a game console. It's all because of the [insert nasty words here] Blu-Ray drive! I don't care about any [insert even more nasty words here] Blu-Ray! I mean, c'mon, Sony, all your previous movie formats have tanked big-time. Strong Bad's song about laserdisc notwithstanding, you mind just gutting this overly expensive souped-up DVD player and just giving us the plain ol' game system for about $300 USD or so? That's still kinda pricey, but it's a pricy I could eventually afford, durn it.

Me too. I have a very special place for ICO and Shadow of the Colossus. But, I think the days of owning more then one console are going to be gone this generation. I could buy at least three Wii's with over $600.

allright well i guess i have to be the playstation fanboy and stick up for my team. although i got no money so i wont be buying the PS3 until the price drops significantly. is the only difference really just the hard drive capacity? laaame. the price will drop and it will fall pretty fast because nobody is gonna want it. the reassuring thing: they are selling even the expensive ones at a loss, so at least we know its actually 600 dollars worth of stuff, not 100 worth of stuff and a high markup

Call me a cynic, but I fail to see a 20 GB increase in Hard Drive space as making for a $100 price increase. That, and I'm always a little skeptical about these "Street prices" people come up with. Sure, if you know the components, you can look up the prices and see how much it would cost to piece one of these things together, but you gotta realize that Sony can/will buy the parts for a lot less than your average consumer (I mean, they're probably going to be buying enough parts to make thousands if not millions of units, so they're gonna get quite a markdown). I'm guessing that the $499 is probably going to be the highest price, and even then, I think that's pushing it. Unfortunately for Sony, it looks like HD-DVD (which is the format of the 360) is going to become the industry DVD standard (since HD-DVDs have already hit the market). Sony's Blu-Ray disk is going to go the way of the BetaMax (which, although superior, failed solely because JVC flooded the market with VHS).
I'm guessing that the PS3 will be about $350-400.
...and expect 360's to come down about $50.

The price will come down before the console is released. I think Sony has pulled this kind of thing before. Even if it comes down to the $350-$400 range that Strong Rad predicts(probably correctly), that's still a good chunk of change.
What gets me, is that all of these systems are touting all of these 'amazing' features the console will have, but I heard next to nothing about the games coming out for these sytems. I mean, these things are supposed to play games right? If I want a system that links up to all of my electronics wirelessly, or plays movies, or some such, I'll just get a new computer.

I've heard that it's supposed to hit the streets sometime in November. I, too am planning on budgeting for one. I don't actually want one, but, you all saw what the 360's were going for on EBAY, didn't you? It seems to be a wise investment. I can take my profits and buy a Revolution (or Wii, whichever), plus (hopefully) have enough for a nice DLP TV.

I think that's way expensive. It's outrageous. Which is why I like to buy my consoles on e-Bay long after they're out of style and the value has dropped significantly because everyone's out buying, say, the PS6 or whatever. Because even if Sony never gets as far as a 6, you know people are still going to make video game consoles. So I can wait. But to stay on the subject, that is a crazy price.
