Post subject: Nintendo's E3 Conference! Phew!
PostPosted: Wed May 10, 2006 12:03 am
After eating up the conference today, I must say, Nintendo did a grand job. It was quite entertaining. Especially with Mr. Miyamoto's introduction :).

Highlights:
-I no longer doubt the controller. It looks incredible. I now just want to see what it feels like.
-METROID PRIME 3: CORRUPTION!!!!!!!!!!
-SUPER MARIO GALAXY!!!!
-TWILIGHT PRINCESS!!!!!!!
-Pink DS Lite. I think I might wait for that color to come to America. Must...get...
-All the DS games announced. Must...get...Children of Mana...

Surprises:
-Twilight Princess is coming to the Wii and the Gamecube? Which version should I get?
-Super Mario Galaxy. I wasn't expecting that.
-Elite Beat Agents Storm is comming to America. I thought there wasn't a chance.

Disappointments:
-No mention of Mother 3 for America. There might be an announcement later in E3, but my hope isn't very high.
-I think Nintendo has abandoned the Gamecube. They made almost no mention of it. *sigh* *hugs Gamecube*

Overall opinion:
I think Nintendo is going in the right direction.

Discuss.

I'm surprised I didn't hear about it, I thought there were a few more weeks left.

Super Mario Galaxy? That sounds awesome! Can't wait for that.

I've been looking forward to Children of Mana DS for a while.

It's gonna pwn so much. I've always like the Mana series, and the multiplayer will make it twice as awesome...

And a Wii verison of Twilight Princess definitely sold me on the Wii. Name and all.

I don't have any wideos, but imagine, if you will, Mario in space, jumping around on asteroids.

Pwn.

ANOTHER METROID PRIME GAME?! Arrgh, it better not suck. I LOVE Metroid and I'd hate to see it start to go down hill. And I don't care what they say about Wii, it's cool and I am for sure buying it.

The two different versions of TP surprised me. I'll probably just be getting the GC edition, since I can play it on Wii anyway, and I probably won't be getting a Wii until I can aggregate some extra money. (We'll see what I get at Christmas...) I'm definitely digging on Prime 3. Super Mario Galaxy looks interesting! Antigrav Mario, huh? Also, some footage of it that I saw showed Mario battling some sort of lava Blooper, and I have to say, it actually looked pretty impressive graphically (For, you know, a system that isn't as graphically powerful as the other next-gens.)

But despit all this Wii news, there's a wealth of glorious stuff being released for the DS (and even one 'Cube game) that kind of got glazed over. The highlights:

-More Chibi-Robo! (I hope the little guy gets into the next SSB. :)) This time, it's at a park! Looks fun!
-Diddy Kong Racing! It looks like it might be a port of the original, but from the looks of it, the Rare characters might just be replaced with Kongs. I understand, but it's a shame. I'm gonna miss Pipsy. :(
-Star Fox DS! Could it possibly be related to the long-lost Lylat Wars?
-A new point-and-click style adventure that looks very noir-ish. It's called Hotel something.
-Kirby DS! Looks like Kirby might get an inventory system.
-Looks like the US is getting Pokèmon Dungeon, too! And it looks pretty interesting.
-YOSHI'S. ISLAND. 2. That dull roar you hear is the collected squeal of joy of Nintendo fanboys and fangirls all over the globe, including myself. Eeeeeeeeeee!

There was also a preview for a Paper Mario side-scrolling platformer. Or at least, Paper Mario-D platformer. How's that for awesome sauce?

END FANGIRLING!

I wish they could announce the release date for the European DS Lite already! Got to get my hands on one of those... Besides the original DS looks really bulky and, as a matter of fact, quite uncomfortable.

Yes, it's very comfortable; don't assume. Nintendo has made to uncomfortable hand held system other than the SP, I just hated that one; the L and R buttons were so small, and uncomfortable. But the DS is really easy to use and really comfortable. Trust me, I'm determined to beat Metroid Prime Hunters. So I play mine alot

I won't buy the Lite though, it looks cool and all, but not that big of an improvement to spend my money on. Sorry Nintendo :(

YAY!

Anyway, on the day of the press conference I conveniently had to stay home from school because I had a bad cold.

This post is about The E3 in general.

Okay, kinda dissapointed....no new jak games, or any other platformers I like. Ratchet and Clank do have a new game, but it's for the PSP. The new Crash Bandicoot game is far out of my reach, too. No Spyro.

But that billy and Mandy game looks aweosme. I so want to play as Jack.

Yeah, Nintendo's press conference was great! I'm excited for all of those games, but oddly enough, the one that I'm most excited about is...
Phoenix Wright 2 for the DS!

Oh, Nintendo. How you have re-instilled faith in me.

I won't get Twilight Princess for the Wii, because I don't think I'm quite ready to make that leap yet. I want to savor what should be the best Zelda game ever on the GameCube as its last hurrah. Plus I'll be able to play it on the Wii.

Super Mario Galaxy looks...strange to say the least. But it looks awesome as well. So I'll probably get that when it comes out.

Any mention of SSB [s]Revo[/s] Wii?

I'm still waiting for my Kirby GCN game...

Alexander wrote:

They did the same thing with the N64. It makes me sad, but most companies end up doing this.

So overall, Nintendo should rock the next-gen. My faith has been completely restored.

Ah, 5000 posts already? How fitting.

I know that it's not the same, but a new Kirby game has been announced for the DS! And it looks pretty awesome, too.

Sad truth: I'm going to be all over the goofy DS releases Spectrobes and--yes, I'm not ashamed to admit it--the Code Lyoko game. Why? Because I'm a dork!

Yay another kirby for the DS!

Looking at the pictures on that site I can see that Kirby's getting an inventory... and Ninja power is making a return (Yay!), and looks like theres going to be some kinds of water(?) and dog(?!?) powers. Or that might be some kind of weird looking cat. Whatever.

It also looks like the bosses are all mouse themed so I bet its a cat.

Edit: Looking at the page a bit more I learned that its a bear, and the water ability is a bubble ability. And you can mix abilities again. Sweet.

Really, what I'm looking forward to is Final Fantasy III DS. Have they said anything about it? I know it's getting a graphics overhaul... but not much else.

Ability mixing! One of my favorite parts of K64! Awesome sauce!

K64 is a pretty good game; it's make a grat DS port if nothing else. Thinking back at it, it had [i]fantastic[i] graphics for its time, and a great soundtrack, too! Miracle Matter's theme... Probably my favorite final boss music ever in that!
