On this day (May 16) in 1866 Charles Elmer Hires invented Root Beer. That's 140 years off frothy sweet goodness to celibrate. How will you celibrate this day? |

Ahh, root beer. One of life's simple pleasures. Though, it seems that Americans might be the only people who actually like it. Our school had some vivitors from Russia come, and they despised it. What's up with that?

Man, if Homeschool saw this topic, he would go wild. But he hasn't been here in like...forever. As for me, I've never been a big root beer fan. It's nice every now and then, but it's not something I'd like to drink all the time. |

Rootbeer. The best soda ever invented. I have a special mixture with honey and vanilla added. |

Le woot for root! I have - well, my friends do - this special concoction that they made, by the moniker 'Deadhill Delight' I place a warning for everyone to never do this. Take two litter bottles of A&W, Mello Yello, and Tropicana Twister (fruit punch flavor). Fill almost half/half with A& W and Mello Yello, and add a dash of Twister to top it off. It is complete when you notice a green-brown(ish) hue to the drink. If you so dare to "enjoy" this beverage, be prepared for unexpected side effects, including (and not limited to) frequent need to go baffroom at regular, ten minute intervals, occasional nausia, aand a pequiliar, yet unsatiable craving for more of the stuff. That was an interesting day, my folks. |

I don't even drink soda. Could never stand the fizz. The only carbonated drink I drink is sparklin' apple cider. Yum. |

It's kind of a sweet, licoricey-tasting sody pop. It's good, but I prefer mine with less root and more barley. Sort of like Caffrey's. |

In honor of this momentous occasion, (which was apparently yesterday...*cough*) I shall celebrate by spending my hard earned cash on a bottle of Henry Weinhards finest. |

Kevin DuBrow wrote: ramrod wrote: topofsm wrote: Dr. Pepper is actually better. There has never been a true-er (Huh?) sentence that I have seen in my life so far. You win.I'll have to take your side there, Kevin DuBrow. Root beer is one of the few modern drinks that tastes good because of the flavor, and not entirely because of the massive amount of sugar that resides within it. The taste of root beer cannot be described. It is what it is: It is simply; Root Beer. You shall bow down to root beer. You are the weasel man! You shall absorb total pain! |

Was root beer ripped off by about 20 other companies? I rest my case. Good drinks: root beer, Dr. Pepper, milk, guava juice |

I don't agree with the first sentence there, but the other two are quite insightful.

Meh... root beer is like birthday cake or extra vanilla ice cream. On the first bite, you're like, wow! This stuff is great! But then after five or so it just gets... i dunno... tireing? Too sweet? Whatever.

HOORAY FOR ROOT BEER! I drink Bang's Root Beer, usually. Or it is Barq's or something like that? I get confused by the cursive lettering. |
