Wow. Just wow.

I'm not gonna spoil it, but here are a few that made it:
Apple Macintosh Portable
Iomega Zip drive
Digiscents iSmell

Number One shouldn't be a surprise.

VERY YES.

But AOL wasn't the first to do it.

I would argue that it was ICQ that made IM huge. I don't know how many users ICQ had when AIM was created in October 1997, but when AOL acquired ICQ eight months later it had 12 million users. Considering that there were only about 100 million internet users in 1998, I would say that's pretty HUGE.

Oh, by the way, I work for AOL, and I think the company is heading in the right direction in a big way. So I wish the article was more specific and said "AOL's dial-up service," which is indeed one of the worst products ever.

Haha, I saw that yesterday and showed it too my dad. He was laughing at some of them, and agreed with a lot of the choices. He actually knows one of the guys who created Comet Cursor xD

Though, Ian, I believe you need to change the topic title to PC World's Top 25 Worst Tech Products of All Time.....

oh man this is awesome. i had a zip drive and i thought it was the coolest. but because it's pc world they of course beat on apple a bunch. i gotta say i think the apple portable is a gem of ridiculous design but hey the fact that they contained a computer in such a small package in 1989 is impressive. i never knew there was a wearable dvd player....
aww man i want an iSmell. that would be vile.
and i totally remember someone who had WebTv. it was hilarious. he sat all day in front of his tv with a frakkin keyboard convinced he was the coolest.

A lot of the iMacs at our school have the Puck Mouse. They ARE very confusing. I still kinda like them, though. They're ROUND!

I remember our family going through 2 or 3 Zip drives. The one on our computer now has barely messed with us. The again, it is the new design. It sometimes refuses to eject the disk, and when it does, it overdoes it.

I am slightly okay with it, though. At least it's better thatn taking up hard drive space and using countless floppies. :p

I have a slight grudge against Zip drives as I've lost about three of the dang disks to the stupid computers at school that take them and then REFUSE TO SPIT THEM BACK OUT NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO. >:O And the disks ended up getting destroyed and/or wiped in the computer lab people's efforts to remove them.

And arrrgh, Windows ME. Bad memories. XD; Unfortunately, my scanner absolutely refuses to work on XP at all (it's a pretty old scanner and the installation program doesn't recognize XP as a valid version of Windows for some reason) so the only computer in the house I can use it on is the one that still has friggin' ME installed on it. But that's the ONLY thing I EVER use it for, seriously. :D Oddly enough, though, the thing that always bugged me the most about it was that if it screwed up (nay, when it screwed up) on you, and you had to restart, for some bizarre reason the next time you would go to shut the computer down the little drop down box would default to "restart" instead of "shut down". I know it's a minor thing, but I can't count how many times I've accidentally hit "restart" and had to wait for the stupid thing to take the half a billion years it needed to reboot just so I could FINALLY shut the thing off proper. X(

Hmmm. About the only ones I've had any experience with are the PCJr and Comet Cursors. I don't remember too much about the PCJr except that it was this old relic my grandpa kept around, but Comet Cursor... oooh... do NOT get me started. Saw it on some free web page builder, and being young and stupid... Took us a couple of weeks to reassemble our compy from the scraps. ><

i only just read the whole list. i gave up reading winME. wait 'til mom hears she bought the operating system that's on the bottom 5 list. in my opinion, getting programs for it is like driving down a long country road to find your favorite camp site is closed.

MMmm, this list conjured up fond memories of my last computer, a Gateway bought Windows ME using AOL dial-up surfing pile of beige plastice. Eventually, it simply started to disintegrate. No, really.

My first computer was a used PCjr. It was indeed a hunk o' junk. But I have fond memories of it.

Roffle.

Good list. I gotta agree with most of the stuff on there. I never used Windows ME (I went straight from 98 to XP), but my friend had it and it was horrendous.

I don't even want to be REMINDED of ME. My brother thought he was awesome from upgrading the computer from 98 to ME but no. No, he wasn't.

Needless to say, I still haven't forgiven him. Those years of using ME was traumatic.

Same here. It was just so long ago that I don't remember much except playing a golf game on it and drawing pictures of windows.

Heheh. Funny list. But was the Newton really that bad? I've heard it was pretty awesome, but no one liked it at the time.

Edit: TOTPD!
