For all us Americans, today is Memorial Day. I believe it's good to remember those who risked (and gave) their lives for our country. Both my grandfathers served in WWII, and I love them and appreciate their sacrifice.

In a related note, Google did nothing on their main page for today. Interesting they'd choose to celebrate the Chinese New Year, but not this.

Don't look too far into it. Google usually celebrates lesser known holidays.

I went to a Memorial Day barbecue. Mostly old people, but there was a 6-year-old to which I kept telling jokes about alcohol.

But yeah, it's amazing to think of how many people have given up their lives for America. Now that's pride.

Personally, I think it's kinda sad that, most of the recognition Memorial Day gets involves sales and barbecues and drinking... I mean, I seriously doubt the guys taking fire on the beaches of Northern France back in '44 were thinking "I hope that someone remembers me by getting a great deal on a plasma TV!"

Maybe if it was an LCD TV.

I concur. I mean, just how much veteran-related stuff do you even see in this holiday? Hardly any. And I'm a veteran!

Yesterday, we celebrated three things in church: Ascension, Memorial Day, and My B-Day. :p

Seriously, since my text was the Ascension, I couldn't really put a whole lot of veteran-related stuff in my message, but we did have special prayers of thanksgiving and one or two patriotic type hymns.

I didn't do anything for Memorial Day but sleep. And it was a good day.

All the students, including me, brought flowers to school on riday and put them around the flagpole outside in memory of the soldiers who died. But yeah, it's kinda sad that Memorial Day, keck, all holidays are simply things for sales to be on.
