Yep, you heard right. A thread about Forgotten realms. I myself like R.A.Salvatore the creator of Drizzt among other things. Talk about any of its books you have read, or plan to read, and basically just discuss it's work. I am eagerly anticipating Road of the patriarch book three in the sellswords trilogy. Around my birthday in october R.A.Salvator's coming to our Joseth Beth for a booksigning for it! I bought promise of the witchking, book two of that series and got it signed! I also have read, House of serprents, Starlight and shadows, and others. Now, discussion time!

Whoa, why didn't we think of this sooner? How bout making it a Forgotten realms discussion? [This is R.A. Salvatore's publishing co. along with many other cool authors!]

I loooooves the Forgotten Realms. 'Specially Baldur's Gate. And Baldur's Gate II.

I've read the Dark Elf Trilogy and the Icewind Dale Trilogy, and a few others in the Drizzt saga. I love the Drow. They're so evil it's funny. I tried reading the Daughter of the Drow series, but it seemed too much of a rip off Drizzt, and it's not as well-written as Salvatore's stuff.

Oh, and I once tried to learn the Drow language. I only remember one word, and it's not really appropriate for these forums. Suffice to say, if you ever called a Priestess of Lloth this, she'd flay you alive.

I was waiting for you to post, Santa Zeno! What book did you get to in Daughter of the Drow? Before I lost the third one(Right at the good part too!) I really enjoyed it. Have you read the Sellswords trilogy yet? I like Jarlaxle and Entreri a lot so I really liked that series.

Oh and if you want a cool drow avatar I could give it to you, or whoever else would want it. I found one yesterday and it's cool.

I only read the first book in Daughter of the Drow, but it seemed kinda corny to me. Like, a female Drizzt with less honor, and a creepy purple dragon friend. I've been meaning to read Sellswords, but lately all I've been reading is crappy English summer assignment books, which aren't at all interesting. Maybe I'll pick them up at Barnes & Noble next time I go. Jarlaxle and Entreri are definitely some of the more interesting characters in Forgotten Realms. I liked Entreri's bat-wing cloak. It reminds me of Meta Knight.

Depending on where you live, you could probably go to one of R.A. Salvatores book signings in October. Entreri goes through MAJOR character change in the second sellswords book, and you find a lot more about him. Jarlaxle, he aquires the awesome power of the control of Dracoliches. In fact, I think I am going the re-read it now.

Santa Zeno, you should finish the Legend of Drizzt series [as it's now called]. If you don't already, buy the collectors editions, they're the group of books in one volume. Each one is about one thousand pages, but I don't think that will be a problem.

Okay, I'll bite. I've never really liked the FR novels outside of Salvatores works and a few other exceptions (Cormyr, Pool of Radiance books, etc.), but I have been DM'ing in Faerun for several years now off and on. I deal pretty much exclusively in Forgotten Realms whenever I get a chance to do a game o' Dnd and I've really gotten to know the world through the various gaming material which in my opinion makes a better read than many of the novels.

If y'all really want to get into it, I suggest going over to http://Candlekeep.com. It's a great unofficial FR website and the forums are usually frequented by many of the FR authors who happen to like to drop hints on their upcoming books.

AWESOMENESSX 1.5! I'll have to be a lurker in that forum now, possibly join it. No such thing as too much Forgotten Realms!
