Could someone post where I can download GIMP? I've scoured the intarwebs looking for it.

EDIT: Changed the title for the truth.

...apparently you didn't scour very hard, considering that the link Jello B. posted is the third result on Google for Gimp download. :P

You may also want to check out Gimpshop.

Gimpshop is supposed to give a Photoshop like interface, right? All I ever got (with both installers) is the Deweirdifier plugin, but it otherwise works exactly like the normal Gimp.

So I'm told, but I've never tried it. Heard good things, though.

You have to pay attention and actually read things sometimes...
I'm guessing you installed it from the link Jello sent you.

Quote:
If this is the first time you're installing The GIMP, you will also need GTK+ 2 Runtime Environment below.

Right below that, it says
Quote:
GTK+ 2 Runtime Environment (version 2.8.18, for Windows 2000 and newer) 4993 kB
This package is required to run The GIMP on Windows 2000 and newer. If you have older version of Windows, install GTK+ 2.6 instead.

My guess is, you should probably try to install that first.

Actually, it's not my guess. You MUST download and install GTK +2 Runtime before you can install gimp.

As StrongRad said, people need to start reading. It's right underneath the link to download Gimp.

Ok, Ok, I downloaded everything and it's working. But how the heck do you use it? I'm confused!

EDIT: Nevermind, I figure out how to use it.

Congrats.
In the future, PLEASE( x 20000000) read the directions before you ask for help. Most people aren't willing to help you if you can't be bothered to read what is right in front of you. This goes for everyone!
Nobody's going to hold the fact that you didn't read some website on page 47 of you google search results*, but, please, at least read the help file and the FAQ first.

* Well, Seethroo will, but he's like Jack Bauer crossed with a ninja, so we really can't control what he does.

O_______o

It's a very awesome, free photo-manipulation progam that beats the pants off paint.

Any other drawing progam beats the pants off paint.

(this is the closest I could find to a Gimp Thread so...)

Does anyone know what tool I can use to make perfect circles like Paint can?

Use the Eliptical Selection tool. While you're stretching out the elipse, hold down shift (it makes the elipse stay a circle).

When you've drawn out the circle you want, go to "edit", then Stroke Selection. Hit "stroke" to draw the elipse. You can play with the options to make things work out the way you want.

It crashes your computer? O.O

You need a better computer then.

GIMP occasionally crashes for me, but it just closes the program. o_o

Okay guys, I need help.

You see my avatar? I made it transparent, but it looks like it has a light blue background to me. BUT, Ju Ju claims it looks transparent to him. I'm using IE, btw.

I've made images transparent in the GIMP before without any problems, so I dunno what it is.
Could someone explain what the crap is going on?

(oh, the the image is a PNG, if that changes anything)

EDIT: addtionaly, is there a way to improve the quality of an image? it looks all...fuzzy now.

I think only gif images work transparent on IE.

Bought it at a tech convention for about 250 US dollars.

Oho, I suspected something like that. Thanks, Al. I'm changing my av now.

Does anyone know how to improve the quality, though?

I've got a decent computer. Dell Inspiron, P4 2ghz processor with 1 gig memory. Point is, the program is so unstable I can't even make decent use of it. Therefore, I'll just stick with good ol' MS Paint. Cheap, but reliable.
