Another amazing speed run.

It's apparently the fastest one in the world, using no slowdown tricks or other methods.

I just love how in some of these speedruns, the people bypass the Lakitu in the beginning; I used to always try and do that when I was younger.

I call bull. That guy uses all kinds of glitches.

It has been done in Quake also. Part 1 Part 2 Although it may seem suspicious, the sound is to perfect, which would be hard to do.

I've heard about this. I assumed it was the original sidescroller one. cool.

Well, the guy in the first video uses the same glitches. This guy just did 'em quicker.

I was a tad wary about this guy at first (I had seen somewhere that skipping the lakitu was a tool-only move), but I was sure he was doing it completely himself. A couple missed jumps here and there, but still amazing skill.

I don't know about you guys, but when I see someone use cheats in an official Speed run, I lose all respect for them. It doesn't matter how good they were when they wern't cheating, they're still cheaters.

"BUT JON!" You wail at me, "If they didn't use cheats it would take over an hour to beat the game wah-wah boo-boo"

...So? What is it about speed runners? Why do they always want to do the whole game? They could easily show their skills if they did speed runs of say, Getting all starts in Bomb-Omb fields, then they could show off their skills in a bite sized fashion. Heck, why don't they just do Speed runs of single levels?

That has nothing to do with this.

First of all, there's a big difference between cheating and using glitches the way speedrunners do. The fact is that exploiting those glitches takes skills that would take you or I weeks, if not months or years, to develop (if we even could at all). Cheating is doing something to make the game easier because you're lazy or lack skills. Speedrunning, whether it involves glitches or not, is the exact opposite. It takes concentration, dedication and endless practice, and the goal is to push both yourself and the game to its very limits. Anybody who thinks doing a speedrun without glitches is any harder (and I'm not talking about speed, I'm talking about skill) than doing it with has clearly never tried.

(Oh, and not to mention that every respectable speedrunner who does use glitches does so with full disclosure, so it's not like they're trying to pull the wool over anyone's eyes. Y'all need to loosen up.)
