I... sort of like anime...

I steal my friend's Shonen Jump and read every time he gets one, and I've been collecting the SJ graphic novels. I gots Yu-Gi-Oh! (much better than the show and cards), One Piece (just plain funny), Shaman King (my personal favorite), Sand Land (bought it on a whim, don't really like it), and Yu Yu Hakusho (also funny). I'm also considering Beet the Vandel Buster.

Anyways, some of the Tokyopop graphic novels look interesting, but a majority of them are age 16+, so I'll have to wait for that.

That's my anime/manga interest. Unless you count still liking Pokemon.

Don't we lock already been posted topics to avoid confusion, and so people don't have to post the same thing twice or read another topic only to reply in a different one? And when searching "Anime" your topic comes up on the first page.

Anyway...I'm not a big anime fan.

 And that's why we are friends. Because I laughed uncontrollably at that.

Just to put this thing back on topic, although I'm not a big fan of anime (but I did get hooked on Sailor Moon when I was in junior high and it first came out on TV in Canada), it has it's place, just like any other art form. I love it when TBC pokes fun at it though. Japanese Cartoon is one of my fave emails.

I used to really love Anime. Not as much anymore.

The problem is that, as an artform, there are several different genres. A lot of times people dismiss the whole artform based on one or two genres. For example: I knew some guys who thought anime was only either kiddie animal shows like Pokemon, or porn. But in between, there are some great series with some excellent production. I personally love Macross Plus and Cowboy Bebop. It just depends on your tastes, but I'll wager that just about everybody could find a series or a movie that really appeals to them if they'd only give the artform itself a chance.

For me, Cowboy Bebop raised the bar. I used to love just about anything anime, regardless of quality. But after seeing CB, I just grew tired of the inferior stuff. The sheer quality of writing, art, music, etc., in that series really impressed me.

And no, I never liked either the kiddie stuff or the porn.

I haven't seen much of it. I saw a few episodes of Fooly Cooly and .hack//SIGN, and they both seemed cool. Unfortunately, I got into the shows right before it was taken off the air on Cartoon Network. =(

FLCL is definitely one of my favorite series (as my avatar would lead one to believe).

Also good are Hellsing, Nadesico, Azumanga Daioh, and lotsa others.

FLCL...isn't that the one with the guy who has robots come from his head? That looks funked up. I like that.

I don't know a whole lot about anime but I own a copy of "The Irresponsible Captain Tylor" and it's fantastic. The theme song is the best, especially in Japanese. I used to be able to sing it but I haven't watched it for years. I've also seen a lot of Ranma 1/2 and some of Doomed Megalopolis.

I used to be a total anime freak (you know, the ones on the message boards that are like "anime!!11!! teh woot ^kekekekekkeke!1`11!") but now I'm more of an enthusiast. I dig some of the hentai, but most of it gives me really bad hives.
Anime I own/watch (in no particular order)
-Akira
-Robotech
-Dragonball Z
-Inyuasha(can never spell)
-Devil Boy
-Devil Lady
-Ninja Scroll
-Rurouni Kenshin
-Samourai X
-Fist of the North Star
-Excel Saga
-Pui Pui Poemy (or something like that)
-azumunga daioh

*phew

Oh and InvaderTK, the anime is good but the manga is excellent!

Anime is pretty much lost on me, though a few series stand out from the rest, mainly Cowboy Bebop (absolutely stunning if you like anime, or even if you don't). I recently got the movie, and I'm just blown away. Strangely enough, though, I despise most anime series', such as Inuyasha. Bah.

AGREE'D. You can't cancel your manga books. You also can't cancel taped animé, but that's beside the point.

I like anime an manga about the same, it really just depends on what mood im in :)

Ok for the people who watch anime do you watch it subbed or dubbed? personally i think most dubbed anime is unwatchable as with most of the dubbed anime ive had the mispleasure of watching have all had bad translations an the pathetic voice acting.

While anime is good, nothing can top manga, except for maybe Google, or Skeletor...with a bottle of Febreeze.

Anyways, Some of my favorite anime/manga is:
Cowboy Bebop
FLCL
Gungrave
Hellsing
The Slayers
Inuyasha
Stinkoman K

And that's anout it.

That's a shame, really. It's a fab anime. What did you find so displeasing about it?

I thought the animation was fairly crappy, and the voice-acting SUCKED!

I usually don't mind watching things subbed, but my wife prefers dubbed anime, so I watch it like that more often...

I watched around 6 episodes, and if a show doesn't have my interest by then, then it ain't gonna happen.

Chobits was pretty good, though!

Pleh. Ah, well.
I asked it before and I'll ask it again. Is One Piece any good?

I'm sure it COULD be good...

Unfortunately, FoxBox took hold of it and turned it into a crappy piece of crap.

I saw it and was disgusted...it's a shame, really...from the manga and whatnot, it seemed really funny.
