| Post subject: | Camping Food |
Hey, I'm leaving in 2 days for a camping trip out west and I was wondering if anyone had some food suggestions that were easy and could be cooked with limited resources and effort... so no dutch oven stuff. I'm looking for stuff that is good to make after 12 hours of driving when you don't feel like putting much effort into dinner. So far I've already included hot dogs and s'mores and PB&J sandwiches. And granola bars. |

If you can stand it, Mac N' Cheese works well (if you get a small grill). I'd also try bagels for breakfast (bring peanut butter) and maybe some soup for dinner. 2000th post! w00tage. |

If you're not bringing any heat source, pretty much your only options are sandwiches, fruit, and pre-packaged snacks. |

You're going to Yellowstone? I'm going to a Jellystone! Fun times. I haven't tried this yet, but it sounds awesome: You boil a pot of water. Like, seriously boil. Then crack two eggs into a Ziploc (or similar) bag. Then shake it for a while. Then put your omlette fixin's in there, and close it up, and put it in the pot for 13 minutes. And then you take it out of the bag and eat it... probably. |

They make bags of instant mashed potatoes. You just add water and heat. Mmmm, yummy. I love those. My dad made those over vacation when we were camping. |

This is an old recipie called slop. For each person you need:
1 egg 1 handful of cheese(shredded) 2 slices of bacon Fry the potato and bacon till the bacons done, then add the cheese and egg until the cheese is melted. This stuff is G-E-W-D gewd. You can also add or substitute anything with anything. Hope you like it!! |

Any form of canned stew is delicious. Also, bacon. Just bring, like, ten pounds of bacon. |

Oh, I thought of something. Toasted sandwhiches. Just bring, some sort of meat and the toppings you want along with buns and butter. To toast the buns just lightly butter. Then put in pan over fire to make butter golden brown (Do this on top and bottom of bun). Make sure its all heated and add your toppings. If you want you can heat up the meat to. |

Don't forget trail mix. That stuff is always good to have around to use as slingshot ammo in self defense... and you can eat it too.

if someone hasn't said it, dry as much fruit as you can. it's light. also, i hear if you go hiking, you should buy lots of candy bars. butterfingers, and, um, that's the only american candy i know. sure, they're sugary, but they have lotsa energy. |

With that pie iron you found, you can make pizza sandwiches. Those things are the best. It's just pizza ingredients minus the crust, plus bread. It all equals magic.

Actually, you have an excellent point there. Canned baked beans are quite delicious, especially if you do them on an open fire. YUM |
