Most of the forumers agree that TV in general is going down the tubes (I made a funny) and a good example of that is Cartoon Network and Nickolodean. But some things are still good. This is a thread where you can post what shows you like to watch on these channels, or what shows that you used to like, but are either gone, or suck nowadays.

Me, I miss Dexter's lab coming on frequently. I loved that show.

This is probably as much the "old fart" in me as anything else, but neither show is really worth watching too much anymore.

I used to love the old Nick shows (Double Dare, Salute Your Shorts, You Can't Say That On Television, and Ren and Stimpy). This new stuff they've got just doesn't work for me (then again, maybe it's because I'm all old now). The last good show they had was Rocco's Modern Life (and that was hillarious because of all of the "hidden" adult type humor).

As for Cartoon Network, I miss when they would have 3 hour blocks of Road Runner cartoons, Tom and Jerry (not Tom and Jerry Kids), and a bunch of random Warner Brothers/Merry Melodies toons. The only thing on Cartonn Network I like now is the Adult Swim stuff and I don't really like all of it.

Oh well.

SR, I agree about Double Dare. As a kid, I always wanted to go on that show and play. As for more recent stuff, I really like Aqua Teen Hunger Force, but those two channels have become pretty thin recently.

I don't like anything on Nick anymore, and the only stuff I like on CN (on Adult Swim, to be more precise) are Futurama and Family Guy...and even those aren't all that great a lot of the time.

I agree with SR--the good times are definately over. :sb: Salute Your Shorts, Hey Dude, You Can't Do That on Television, Roundhouse, All That (original cast), Are You Afraid of the Dark (original cast)...those were the shows I got into. But they're gone now.

Anyone remember Cartoon Cartoon Summer? That was the best summer ever. All day on CN they had seeral hour chunks of straight Dexter's Lab, Jonny Bravo, and the like, punctuated by a few more hours of classic Looney Tunes in the middle of the day, and followed by several more hours of the same shows from the morning. Yup, I definintely was a couch potate that summer *drool*

I miss Ren & Stimpy, Rocko's Modern Life, and that Stick Stickly dude that came on in the summer. He was great.

Originally I was a huge Nick fan. Rocko's Modern Life, All That, Ren & Stimpy, ect. Shortly after those shows went off the air/started to suck, I started to watch CN and the Cartoon Cartoons. Ed, Edd, 'n Eddy was the best of the lot. Then from there I watched the anime that was on there. From there I started to watch Adult Swim. After that, I really only started to watch AS. It's pretty much the only thing I watch.

Me, I'm a big kid inside, since I still love both these networks. On CN, Foster's is lolalicious, and I of course like Zatch Bell. And Code Lyoko is surprisingly deep for a kid's show. On Nick, I dig old school Rugrats if I can find it, and I even won't say no to the Backyardigans on Nick Jr. if I must. I like Danny Phantom, and, of course, Avatar is just flipping sweet.

Ah, I used to love nick, Zim, Rocko's Modern Life, (why hasn't anyone mentioned Angry Beavers?), Ren and Stimpy. Yeah I do miss the classic cartoon blocks on CN and adult swim stopped Sealab.

I would get Nicktoons channel, but its in a digital cable package thast about 20 bucks more a month.

I guess that's why there is a TV section in suncoast.

Although I am a big supporter for CN, and many of the shows on Adult Swim either are hilarious or sound like they would be, I still always liked..... um.....

SpongeBob SquarePants.

No, seriously. It's funny! I like it! Come on, admit it, you people think it's great too!

I almost forgot about that show...newer, but still quite good, IMO. The style of humor was more creative than most of their other stuff.

Courage the Cowardly Dog I also really enjoyed, because it had a much darker and much more adult Tim Burton feel to it.

And speaking of Tim Burton, I LOVED (still do) the Batman animated series that was produced in the early- to mid-90s...the one that was modeled more around Burton's films (with Danny Elfman's music for the show!). I really enjoyed the detective process and drama that went on, showing that cartoons--even superhero cartoons--didn't necessarily have to be all about action and pointless violence. That cartoon had a purpose, man. Though I think that was one of those that came on Kids' WB! in the afternoons on weekdays, along with Animaniacs and Pinky & the Brain.

Courage! Oh I loved how that show did like a mini b-horror in every episode. Not just humor for entertainment, sometimes that cartoon could actually get pretty creepy.

When I was younger, I didn't get Cartoon Network. I only got Nick, and for a while, I didn't really care. Then, one day, everyone in my town mysteriously got it. This was when Nick started its downward spiral, so it was good timing.

I personally have always preferred CN to Nick. Why? I dunno. Nick's old shows and Nick Jr. were a big part of my childhood. Plus Invader ZIM. But something about CN is just...better to me. Maybe it's because of Adult Swim. Adult Swim > Nick at Nite. Infinitely.

CN currently has what I consider the best American-made animation out there today - Billy and Mandy. I really like it. The first episodes were pretty lame, but the series got really good over time. Plus it kind of works that "creepy" angle, which gives me some nostalga of Courage the Cowardly Dog.

Great! But what does that have to do with Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network? (?)

He's just stating an opinion. He doesn't particularly like either. S' an opinion too.

ANGRY BEAVERS! Oh, that shows was teh pwn! I loved the episode with the "musk." That was funny. And does anyone else notice the slight resemblance between Stump and Plank?

Like others, I miss the older Nick shows, as well, such as Rocko's Modern Life and the Angry Beavers. I remember ever since Easter, they've been playing those older shows sometimes on Sunday afternoons. I guess I can live with that much Rocko.

But some of the more modern stuff on Nick is fine, as well. Spongebob Squarepants and the Avatar are two of my favorite shows, as they try to stay away from "lol fart jokez" yet still show humor in them for a kid's show.

As for Cartoon Network...I miss Looney Toons... :(

The only thing that I've watched a little bit of now is Ed Edd n' Eddy, but I really gave up on the channel when they introduced Adult Swim. Johny Bravo, Dexter's Laboratory, and Courage the Cowardly Dog were all funny when I used to watch the channel, though.

All I watch on Nick anymore is Avatar...

As for CN, I like some of the newer stuff, like Billy & Mandy, but most of it's crap.

I miss the cartoons from the 90's. I think CN should start showing like, Animaniacs, Freakazoid, and other old WB stuff.

Wow...I almost forgot completely about Nick at Nite. Though the only show from Nick at Nite that really sticks out in my mind as something I'd want to watch again was Get Smart. Funny secret agent stuff. Don Adams is a classic.

YES. It was awesome. Though I always ended up screaming at my TV.

Yeah, when Billy and Mandy first came on I was just like: "... :|" Then, they started making it less comic-ish (They took away the titles for actions, like if someone kicked something in the old episodes, it would always say "Kick" or something like that by it), and they made Billy more of an idiot, and Mandy and Grim defenitly changed their everyday attitudes. That's when it started to get good... I also liked how in Billy and Mandy plots continued, like when Nergal became his uncle, they kept him his uncle, and they just didn't show him again, or have him not as his uncle.

I've always perferred CN, I like some of the roxxom shows on Nick, like Fairly OddParents, Avatar (My parents like Avatar, too! So they will watch it occasionally too :p), and I'll watch Spongebob when it's on... XD But then they added shows I couldn't just bare to watch an episode of, like "The X's". (No offense to anyone who likes it), but I despise that show. I like the older ones. I remember watching "The Brain" when I was a kid in the mornings, and Angry Beavers and Ren and Stimpy and all. They need those back, luckily I have Nicktoons though. xD I still don't get why they put "Yakkity Yak" on Nicktoons, that show is relativley new...

As for CN, some shows I've always liked that are ye olde are Courage, Johnny Bravo, Dexter's Lab, Tom and Jerry, and so forth, and those were great, and I like how CN has the "Cartoon, Cartoon!" Shows still on, so you can still see the old shows without getting some weird channel. And they also still show Tom and Jerry, for the summer I think it's on really early in the morning, but during the schoolyear it's on at like 1:00pm -> 2:00pm, and it's the original stuff, too. I also remember Scooby-Doo, they totally RUINED that show with all the new ones. The old ones were awesome, especially the one where they always had a special guest on it. That was awesome.

For the newer shows on CN, I like Billy and Mandy, FHFIF, Zatch Bell!, Code Lyoko, Camp Lazlo, Ed, Edd, n' Eddy, Xiaolin Showdown (Shat up. I love that show.), and various others, but I remember when CN started adding those stupid shows, like Atomic Betty and Robot Boy and some other I forget... (No offense to people who like them). But that was annoying. And I haven't seen Squirrel Boy yet, and I'm not really psyched to see it. It looks pretty crappy... >_< I don't think I should judge it though, I thought Camp Lazlo looked stupid, but now I love that show. They made it awesome.

For Nick at Nite, I LOVE the classics, I'll watch them if there is nothing else on and enjoy them, but I don't like any in particular. Yeah, they are good, but not that good. You always gotta love the classics, though. XD

And finally, Adult Swim. The shows I watch on that are, Futurama, Family Guy, and Pee Wee's Playhouse, Aqua Teen Hungerforce, and Full Metal Alchemist. All good shows, trust me, I like them, and they will soon be getting Bleach, my second favorite manga of all time. I can't wait. The shows I think they screwed up on were Tom Goes to The Mayor, and The Venture Bros. and Minorateam I don't even get ANY of those shows, and I don't plan on watching Minorateam, that just looks stupid. Especially those commercials. I'm really excited for Bleach though. I seriously can NOT wait for that show, I just pray they don't butcher it to high heck.

So, after a long post, I'mma say this, I like CN better, though Nick is good, I haven't watched that thing in months. Seriously. The newest show I remember that was on when I was watching Nick was the one when Timmy wished for a big brother in Fairly Oddparents. I watch CN everyday, and same with Adult Swim, so you would assume I like those better. Though I still think Nick has some great shows, and they should add some kind of program like CN has with Cartoon Cartoon, and still show the same shows on a channel that comes with basic cable, so there would be less fuss. But that's just me, maybe other people disagree with me here. XD

I find it embarassing I can write so much about TV channels and so little about religion and politics :p

Edit: Oh yeah! Those old gameshows! I love those! Luckily I have Nick Gas, and that's like ALL they show. I loved how in the video game one, they refrenced Sonic alot. I always liked "Guts" and "Double Dare" (Not Double Dare 2000 though, that show was meh). The Legend of The Hidden Temple was also great as the rest, and awesome. Nick Gas is one of the best things Nick has made. I remember Global Guts, I always rooted for US, and I remember they even tracked the metal count. Awesome. For Double Dare, the questions were always things I tried to answer myself. That was fun, and the ending obstical course was awesomeness. Seriously. Anyone remember Figure It Out? That show RAWKED! I remember watching it and always trying to get it, it was pretty hard at times. I was also amazed by the talents they had, I can't remember them all, mostly the Figure It Out Wild Style ones, with the pets, that was cool.

So in my second conclusion, Nick would be much better if they brought back some old gameshows and added that program that had a bunch of the old shows in like an hour segment, like Cartoon, Cartoon.

</Now ended long post>

Angry Beavers ruled. I remember the episode where they gut their fur shaved off(Furless is freeee! XD) and the one where their dad showed up because Daggit was obsessed with tail slapping, among other things.

Yakkity Yak was put on Nicktoons due to cancelation, I tihnk. To me it just seemed like Spongebob but with a few differences, so I didn't liek it much.

Let's hope that the age of not-goodness wil lend soon, right?

(The Age of Not-Goodness is when pretty much every cartoon that premiered from when Atomic Betty premiered to a date that has not happened yet, but there are exceptions(such as Ben 10(shaddup) and Camp Lazlo)).

I was in the audience on 1 1/2 shows of "Family Double Dare" (the FOX version) in the early 1990's when they taped at the old WHYY (Living History Center) studios here in Philadelphia before they moved to Florida (That's when they jumped the shark IMHO).

Currently, I like "Foster's" and "Camp Lazlo" on CN and "SpongeBob" on Nick.

That is all.

Yeah, Strongrad, on weekdays, I think they still have 2 hour blocks of Tom and Jerry on. I watched some just this morning.

I'm all for the spongebob club. He rules.

I remember in 2000 or so when CN had the Cartoon Elections, and Scooby Doo ended up winning, which really meant nothing other than they would show about four times as much of any Scooby show the producers could get their hands on. That was actually quite good, as my best friend hated the daylights out of Scooby at the time, and nearly went crazy that summer :p

Ok, I believe I've been through how I currently feel about Nick in the things that went from cool to crap topic. Yeah, I miss the old cartoons on Nick like Ren & Stimpy, Rocko, and Angry Beavers. Nick also had some pretty live action shows, like Pete and Pete, Are You afraid of the Dark, and Kenan & Kel. I mean, Drake & Josh pales in comparison to the awesomeness that was Kenan & Kel.

Now on to Cartoon Network. Yeah it was great they would show classic cartoons. I remember that one show that would show 3 new cartoons an episode. Some of the cartoons on the show actually went on to become Cartoon Cartoons. I miss the good Cartoon Cartoons, like Johnny Bravo, Dexter, Powerpuff(Seriously), and Courage. There are a few good cartoons on CN like Billy & Mandy, Fosters, Camp Lazlo, and a few others, but it also has crap like My Gym Partner is Monkey.

Oh yeah, sign me up for that Spongebob club. Kudo on the Calvin and Hobbes Referance.
