Okay so considering the last time I necromanced, I'm just gonna start another thread. This is general about the simpsons, Season 8 is out (w00t) on dvd. And!!! as crude as they may be look at these clips of the work in progress of the simpsons movie, coming out July 27, 2007! yet another w00t!Anyways, so get this, china is banning airings of the beloved show in their country to help the struggling animation studios they have. Think that's fair, kinda playing favorites on their own country. If the animation studios in china can't get the public's attention then it's their own problem, (sigh) yet another blood thicker than water scenario, so the simpsons doesn't animate in china. Is that any reason to stop the cruel race for top viewing hours? No! I say that it's a rat race everywhere

A Simpsons movie??? Oh no no no, they should seriously just let it die.

(Mind you, that's what I said about the Beavis and Butthead film, and that was..... well....... it was alright. Not awful.)

You mean the crappy clips of the storyboards that was shot with a camcorder? ;) Yeah. Dunno, it doesn't look hugely exciting, but maybe I'll change my mind when the real previews come out.

FIRST OF ALL! that was an ANIMATIC!
Second it's not that crappy, I mean seriously if you can show me or produce better stuff then I don't know if you should be talking, It's amazing what those studios can do.
Thirdly, we don't know it could've been a camcorder on a TRI-POD
I'm sorry if I disgusted anybody just know where you're coming from, don't hastly criticize some work that animators poured their hearts into to show the public decent work. I think it was pulled off quite nicely, think about the animatic first, It's the material that counts

Okay, just calm down, alright? I wasn't calling the actual story board (or whatever) crappy, just the quality of the clip itself. And the camcorder WAS hand-held, because you could see the finger of the guy who was holding it sticking in a few times. But I don't care about that.

All I'm saying is that I'm reserving my judgement about the film itself until I see some previews. A'righ? A'righ.

She can criticize it all she wants. Might be a quick judgement, I can't be sure since i'm not exactly clear on what you're talking about, but she can criticize it if she wants.

Also, necromancy is better than making a new thread, as long as what you add when you revive the thread is relevant (And not something just like "I agree")

EDIT: Simulpost (Well, technically not, since they were 5 minutes apart, but I guess I jsut took a while writing it)

I guess I can understand China wanting to grow animation studios at home, but...

Well, a lot of traditional 2-D animination (Japanese anime and American cartoons) end up getting outsourced to Korea, where it's cheaper and the talent pool is more concentrated. That means that even in our own home countries, animated shows don't do much in the way of employment growth.

And secondly: how does banning the Simpsons help the Chinese animators get more jobs? That only works if they perceive no new cartoons will be produced if the Simpsons is no the air. But that hardly works if there isn't a cartoon available that people will actually tune in to watch. They could churn out thousands of shows for TV, but there's no guarantee people will tune in to watch 'em.

I guess I'm just trying to say that's not a very logical excuse to ban the Simpsons. On the other hand, if they stated that the Simpsons was subversive, then I might understand. :)

My only opinion on the whole movie matter.

It had better be good. After the movie, they should just stop.

There was an interview with some Simpsons guy a couple years ago who said if they ever do a Simpsons movie it would be to end the series, and he sounded pretty serious. But it doesn't look like it'll end by the time the movie comes out. Didn't they just sign another contract for more shows?

Yep Inverse Tiger, 20 seasons. And they want to beat gunsmoke, so I think the series will continue.
