Poor acting, lip synching. Awful premise. I don't know why a low-budget made for TV musical marketed towards 6 year old girls got such a great response. I had to view it in Music Theory. I need to put a block on the disney channel, all it does is spew crap to hook little kids on products. It's MTV for pre-teens. |

This decade, I've seen that Disney has been recovering themselves a bit from their decline in quality movies of the latter half of the 1990s...but that's just mostly the Pixar movies they put in theatres and over which they make a big to-do. In stark contrast, having had to endure the evil Disney channel because I have a 13-year-old sister, I can say that the Disney channel is the single most predictable, uncreative, ad-heavy, "Won't you PLEASE submit your brain to us and buy our re-re-re-re-rehashed crap?" channel I have EVER seen in my entire life. It's 83.6 times worse than Fox Network. It is SO superficial and materialistic that I feel like barfing up about a hundred brain cells per second of seeing it. I hope to goodness that the Disney channel rots and implodes upon its own lack of creative structure and constant push to sell, sell, sell to little kids who pester their middle-class, cable-buying (thank GOD this channel is only on cable) parents who have no clue about how absolutely mind-rotting the Disney channel is or how 30 minutes of programming there is potentially worse than a full hour of car collisions, bullet wounds, and a Michael Jackson trial combined. Leave Disney in theatres, because the word "quality" is not even remotely related to their TV channels. |

Minimoose, there's no need to make fun of him for liking the movie. He can like it if he wants. As for me, no, I don't like it. I haven't liked pretty much anything Disney has been putting out these days. Also, ELSR, there's really no need for this topic, IMO. I think you should change it to a "High School Musical" topic instead of a "It's on tonight!" topic. |

...you have to be kidding me. I'm watchng it now, and THAT is your favorite song? The one where the girl sounds way too preppy? K'. Eh, I don't like this thing. At all. It's...strange, and - it's Disney. That's pretty bad on its' own. The actors have problems. Zac Efron looks really awkward(and breasks the fourth wall). The girl that plays Gabriella...eh, not so many problems. When we get to Ashley Tisdale... ....ugh. The character sounds WAY too preppy and snobbish most of the time. Something which Tisdale isn't very good at playing. Stick to candy-counter girl if you want my opinion. All in all, this thing is one big mess with a weird plot that makes no sense(zomg, we gotsta blow our educatin off to freakin' sing!). It breaks the fourth wall in a scene(which I really hate if it's something like this where they ask the audience.), people randomly burst out singing, and it's overrated. D --. Some of the performances weren't that bad(Corbin and the girl that played Gabriella), but some of the others were. What's even worst, it's getting 2 SEQUELS. The second one's plot will probably be "That one chick tries to steal Gabriella from Troy" because...they said it in a magazine. I read it because I was bored. J-14, anyone? |
