I wouldn't mind seeing Steve's last moments. I wish no offense, but I think I'd find it interesting.

But as one newspaper article said, Terri would have the final say on whether that video would go public or not.

And even if it did, I have a feeling it'll be a bit too violent to go on Animal Planet.

Yeah, the ray's barbs expanded in his chest so it ripped him up real bad.

I didn't want to make a post at first but I guess I will now.

Steve Irwin wasn't a fool... like someone said earlier. He was professional. He didn't mistreat animals, he knew exactly what he was doing and how to handle almost EVERY animal there is. He knew when you were actually too close and when it just looked like it. He knew that most people think that he is in real danger when messing with those snakes or crocs, but really he knows how to control them enough. It's risky, but he was a professional at it like a lot of others. His best ability was his character. I actually believe that the over-energetic thing he did on camera is more of a character... but what he says is truth. He is being entertaining... because he knew how to do that well. Thick accent? He probably layed it on a bit thicker for entertainment value... but so does Sean Connery (watch old bond movies and then Indiana Jones).

The fact is, although many people thought he would die from messing with animals, this from what I hear, was just a freak accident.

He was swimming by without knowledge of the sting ray which was supposedly under the sand. So he didn't even know. He wasn't aware... and since he wasn't he couldn't handle the situation like he would normally.

Of all the places to get stabbed... the heart. That's what killed him.
It's just insane. A lot of bad luck.

I think he was a good man who dedicated his life to wildlife. His show was to spread knowledge of animals and how dangerous they can be if you don't know what your doing as well as entertain. However, the show(s) were not all he did. He worked in zoos and helped transport crocodiles from one zoo to another. Capture hurt animals and nurse them back to health via the zoo and (if they can) release them back in the wild. He probably made lord knows what kind of monetary contributions... and so on.

I think he really really loved animals and cared a lot about them. People gave him grief over the thing with his son in 2004, but his dad did that with him. It was just the way he was raised, the way their family works. If he hadn't been famous nobody would have said anything at all.

He knew what he was doing, he loved what he was doing and he cared about what he was doing. It's sad that he is gone and anyone who says "I don't care 'cause I didn't know him" is still right. Of course it's hard to care for someone you didn't know or maybe didn't like/found annoying... but you can't deny a truth that is evident.

That Steve Irwin was a good guy and he deserves respect. Don't just say you don't care. At least acknowledge sympathies to his family. You say millions of others died and nobody cares? That's because we have no way of knowing of them. People aren't sad because he is a celebrity or famous... they're sad because ... he was a celebrity and famous and therefore somewhat found his way into our lives. The millions of others we can't possibly be sad for, because we know nothing about them... have no picture, etc.

I know this is late, but his family is in my prayers and I feel so sorry for his children who will one day grow up and only know their dad through the documentaries and tv shows he did.

RIP Steve. RIP.
