I for one welcome our underwater overlords.

I always thought he would die of something lame, like choking on food.

If he was 85 and sick, it wouldn't be as bad, but I'd feel sorry for any old guy who was healthy and 44 and died while trying to make a movie.

I never said I HATE Steve Irwin. I'm not celebrating his death like I will be when Fred Phelps dies--I just said that I find him EXTREMELY ANNOYING. And what the_chekt said was right, too. So excuse me for not caring like the media is telling me I should.

I watched him once in a while. Not much, so I don't really know if I liked him or not.

Wow, this is pretty sad. I think we all saw it coming, but it doesn't make it any less sad. I always thought he was cool.

At least he died doing what he loved.

It's a weird thing, you know... He's one of those people whom a lot of folks say they hate, yet deep down, a lot of them also secretly admired him for being crazy as heck and doing all these nutso things and being the kind of insane, almost super hero-like persoanilty we wish we could be. We all knew his job was probably going to kill him some day, but at the same time, it wasn't supposed too. He was supposed to be that tough guy who could do anything. It's almost akin to Superman dying of a bullet wound.

Poor guy. RIP.

You know, this whole situation really reminds me of the Grizzlyman. You know, that guy who lived with and studied bears all his life, but ended up getting killed by one? Except Steve wasn't killed by a Croc.

Rest in peace, Steve. May you go onto to wrestle that one crocidile that bit off Chubb's arm wherever you go.

Yeah. You'd think kismet would at least have the dignity to let him get killed by his totem animal (sorry if that sounds morbid). Then again, this way, I suppose it's at least less gory and traumatic.

That be Timothy Treadwell, who called himself the "quiet warrior." They even made a movie about him.

This is right up there with Marvel Man dying of cancer. That was a good issue.

Apparently he was swimming over it, the ray was buried in sand, and it got him. But he must have been close, the barb was only about 25 cm.

Well, those things can bury right in and if you're not careful, you might not see it. This just reinforced my fears of swiming in the open water.

Yeah, it got him in the heart, thats why he died so fast. All the other times he has been bitten by snakes and stuff, he lived because they could go get antivenom, but the only reason why he didnt survieve this is because it got his heart.

Personally....I think its sad he is dead, but its not suprising...

DANG!!! I can't believe it!!! It's... just... it can't happen, ya know? It's barely even possible. But it was the most possible thing ever. Like, a giant...uh...thing... of paradoxes. Everyone knew that he would die from some animal, but no one really believed it. We all expected it, but it came completely unexpected.Just... wow.

Now, some people say that he died a bit of an undramatic death for a croc hunter, but think about it people!!! He got STABBED in the HEART with a STINGRAY!!!! That's pretty hardcore, man. That would be like being stabbed in the heart with a knife covered in poisin!!! Pretty honerable... er... cool... but not really. Tragic?

Wow, really? Can't say I really liked him much or ever watched his show, but it's weird that he's dead.... I didn't realize he would die so young. His family must be heartbroken. Really, he was always messing around and didn't die. I'm actually amazed that he lived this long, come to think of it....

Can't say I feel for him or anything, but still....... wow. This is hard to believe.

i also think this is weird. I have swam with stingray (I have a life out of Hrwiki! YAHOO!!!! Its pretty small though) and they are pretty friendly. Let you pet em and everything. I think Steve irwin was pretty cool because he went to Arizona often to see the Gila monster and rattle snakes and even the ocasional sand crocidile!

Yeah, it's a bit of an irony. Stingrays are usually harmless - the last time someone was killed by one was 1950-something.

Guys, it is not like the sting ray was attacking him,Steve probably just jumped in it and started wrestling with it. :p

No, seriously, he probably startled it by swimming to close and it freaked and got him, those barbs are for defence.

Are you serious?! 1950?! That's like... house getting burned down by stress relief candle irony.

Quoted by Family Guy and is in no result any way owned or coined by the first party, firemarc924 and shall not be sued by the second party, Seth MacFarlane.

I'll agree with PMG. It IS sad that he died, but no sadder than any of the thousands that die every day. His fame makes his death no worse than one of the countless that died on roadways this weekend. It is tragic, though.

I'm still a little puzzled over how he was killed. I admit, I don't know much about stingrays or what it takes to kill people, but I always thought a sting from one of those things would ruin your vacation, but that'd be about it.

I never imagined that an animal would be the source of his demise. I always imagined a car accident, heart attack, or cancer would do him in. It's really strange to think that something that isn't considered terribly dangerous is the thing that killed him and not some sort of pit viper.

That's the thing about death, though. You never know when it's going to hit you. You're swimming along, driving along, or going sitting at your desk on a Tuesday morning in September when...

These are on the tails of some sting rays.

Actually it was a heart attack that killed him - well, kinda. The ray's spur hit him right in the heart, which caused a cardiac arrest. It wasn't the venom or anything.

Do you think that they'll take the footage and make it into a tribute to him on animal planet??

No I think the family would sue the brains out of animal planet. I couldnt blame them either.

Odd.

I just watched a tribute just a few minutes ago.
Although I didn't watch much though. I had stuff to do.

I wish I could hold two images in my sig at once. Unfortunately, I had to remove this one for the sake of Naruto and Traa. I'll probably switch back sometime.
