I was so excited to find this out today.

iTunes version 7.0 was realsed today, and it's freakin' awesome!

They have many, many updates.

All of the iPods were updated too. Brighter screen for the videos (80GB and 50 dollars less!), more battery life, browsing, movies, and my favorite....games! For 5 dollars. They have games such as tetris, zuma, mini golf, texas hold 'em.

The nano is titanum like the minis and is different colors. The shuffle is extremely small, and has a built in clip thingy.

Right you are sir! The "Automatic Update" dealy just came up on my MacBook Pro laptop screen, and one of those updates was indeed for iTunes! Sure enough, I downloaded it in a jiffy, and I am now basking in 7.0 glory! The main aspect of the update I've noticed is the brand new look for iTunes. Say guh-bye to green, white 'n silver ya'll, because now it's blue, white, n' silver! The layout has also undergone a slight re-adjustment, and there's new options for viewing your Music Library. Album artwork is also easier to obtain, some icons are different, and that's not all! I highly recommend 7.0 juys, ch-check it out.

Apple has really outdone themselves. iTunes 7 is incredible, as well as all the new iPod stuff at apple.com.

I looked at the iTunes music store and thought they just got a makeover. I like the new blue backgrounds. Sucks that I lost my nano.

The only thing I wish iTunes would do it unprotect their songs. You can't do anything with the songs you buy. You can't make movies out of them, and you can't convert them to different formats. The only way to do it is to burn the music onto a disk and then reput the songs on the iTunes program, and that is annoying since my iTunes doesn't burn.

Yeah... I'm thinking about buying iPod Tetris. Yeah, nothing beats a good game of Tetris. Oh, and I HIGHLY recommend seeing "Cars". It's a movie of pure amazement, Pixar delivers again. It's visually stunning, the story is stellar, there's some good humor, and there's tons of famous voices! George Carlin, Cheech Marin, Owen Wilson, Bonnie Hunt and more!

I watched Steve Jobs' speech today, and it was the usual goodness. Nothing too special this update through...

I didn't like that the iPod 30GB G5 is going to be priced the same as the 8GB Nano....anyone who buys that is really really dumb. And the price for the upcoming "iTV" is WAY too high, in my opinion. I love the price and look of the new shuffle, and the search feature is something that should've been on iPods LONG ago. I'm EXTREMELY happy about the gapless playback, some of my favorite albums like In The Aeroplane Over The Sea sound so much better with it. I hate the new look and feel of the new iTunes, and I can't really navigate the jukebox-style scrolling system. Oh well.

Also...you need to watch the end of the speech...

Ugh... I hated Cars. I dunno why, mabye because I went in expecting something great. Plus, it got like, SUPER boring in the middle part. But thats just me. ;)

Anyways, toastpaint.

Obviously, I am very happy about this.
I am glad Apple is bringing back the iPod mini look, as that was one of my major disappointments when they introduced the nano.
I agree with Sparkle. Who's gonna buy an iPod nano with 8GB when you could just get an iPod video with almost four times as space and more functionalities for the same price. Either drop the "special" black nano to the regular $199 price, or raise the videos up $50.
I'd say push the videos prices up. People HAVE been buying iPods at the normal price of $300 for a long time. Both of my iPods were $300. People have shown that they can pay the $300. Obviously, the people like to buy their Apple products in black, as a contrast to the normal Apple white. Examples being the original nanos, the iPod videos, and the MacBooks (I'm saving up for a white one, by the way).
People will see the black, and the price, along with the extra 4GB, and pay it. The black MacBook is $150 more, and it still attracts consumers.

iTunes is great, I've been playing around with it, and I really like it a lot.
Good job Apple.

I don't know if any of this makes sense. It's kinda late, and I'm kinda tired.

If none of that made any sense at all, I like what Apple has done.

Ugh. That aesthetic was fugly on the mini, and it's fugly on the nano, too. The original nano looked so hot, I'm sad they changed it.

As far as pricing goes, it makes complete sense business-wise and Apple will continue making a fortune on these things. The 8GB nano won't be their top seller, but it will sell just fine.

whoa.. I'm stuck on iTunes 6.. I guess I'd better get with the program.

I also see they updated the iTunes music store.. they've added a few new options, like giving CD artwork a cool reflection and letting you see a list of every track an artist is on all at once (instead of needing to click on each individual CD, one at a time).

Just downloaded it this morning on my PowerBook. The interface was a bit ... different, but then again, I had to get used to some of the looks of the previous updates as well. I like how they arranged the TV shows. The previous setup was a mess.

Also, about the new iPod minis, I gotta say ... finally! I've been jonesin' for the return of the colored iPods, and they're back! Used to have a lime green one myself (need to get that one fixed, methinks). I got me an iPod video right now though, and I won't be trading up soon. (Seriously, that 80GB one sounds cool until I realized that I don't have a computer that can hold that much memory.)

I would probably be able to look past some of its other faults an buy an Ipod - photos and Zuma on the move seem like decent ideas - if it wasn't for the fact that I'd have to use Itunes. Uggh.

I know, easy to use interfaces make me so mad! X-(

What don't you like about iTunes, and what's a good alternative?

Wow, I was right. This thing is slicker than snot on a doorknob. And I love how much detail it has about my iPod now when I click on the name under Devices, but that's just cuz I'm a dork.

I downloaded the new version last night, and it sure is purty.

I have a stupid question, though:
I just bought a nano last week, and none of the album art is displaying. I think that's because most of my music is from ripped CDs, and none of it is purchased from the iTunes store, and I never bothered to download the album art before, since it didn't show up on my screenless shuffle. Anyway, I want album art. How do I get it?

Unless the new version of iTunes lets you download album art, I don't think you can. I've had an iPod video for a while and iTunes for over a year, and it won't download the art automatically. You have to search the net for the album and do it yourself. Quite an annoyance when the album art is one of the selling features.

Then again, I might be wrong. Maybe I haven't looked hard enough, and someone on the board has found a way.

You can right-click on any track and choose "Get Album Artwork." It'll download artwork for any track no matter where you got it. It requires an iTunes Music Store account, but it's free. You're best off selecting a bunch of tracks--or all of them--and doing them all at once.

Ah ha! So THAT'S how things generally work with iTunes 7.0! Thanks for that tasty tidbit sir, I was wondering how this new artwork system worked. When I updated my iTunes into 7.0, I got a message that informed me about obtaining album artwork easier. The message kind of confused me at first, but now the pieces are coming together! Now I can harness the iTunes 7.0's full potential!

Umm, I've right clicked some tracks, and they don't get the artwork. It doesn't say get album artwork or anything. I'll show you with a screenshot.

Okay, no screen shot, yet. But, I'm going to make a guess: they aren't from the same album. Or: they don't have an album name.
