If your Thanksgiving is Columbus Day, then why do you celebrate a ship landing in the Caribbean? Wouldn't it make better sense to celebrate the landing of John Cabot or Jacques Cartier?

If only they would build a town inbetween the border, then anyone who lives theyre could get all the days off of both countries!

There is a town like that, though it's actually only American. Its library rests right on the border -- the women's room is on the American side, same as the entrance, but the men's room is on the Canadian side. The line is marked, if I recall correctly, just for the heck of it, but if the librarians are having a bored day, when a guy asks about the bathroom, they'll point to it and insist on seeing a passport until the poor guy either decides (correctly) that it's a joke, or just thinks "Forget it" and runs for the washroom anyway. ;)

Mmmm. I went to my parents' camp for supper last night. Usually we do our Thanksgiving dinner on Sunday, but I have to work on Sunday, so we did it on Friday. Mmmm. Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, carrots, baked turnip casserole (SO much yummier than you think it'd be), cabbage rolls, perohe (yes, we put our own Ukrainian flavour in there - and perohe are perogies for the uninitiated)... I ate like a pig. And cheesecake for dessert (we're not a punkin pie family). And then some drinkses.

Don't drink. It's bad for you. Especially if you're a kidlet(te).

Sexy Sakura is down in the Hamptons celebrating Thanksgiving. I told her she should have waited a month. She could have seen the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

What? The only thing Thanksgiving celebrates is.... giving thanks. For the harvest I guess, but not really anymore.

The bird will be ready in half an hour! So hungry! :eekdance:

Mine and DG's supper was good. And the best part was that the turkey carved itself! (It was so soft it fell apart while cooking)

And now we get to have turkey, cranberry, stuffing, gravy, mashpotato sandwhichs all week.

That's the best part of Thanksgiving, the leftovers..
While I don't have turkey, cranberry, stuffing, gravy, mashed potato sandwhiches, I do love the Turkey sandwich with a HUGE plate of stuffing and a small lake of gravy.

Goodness yes. The leftovers of anything are always the best. Makes me hungry right now as I type.

Is it just me or are Thanksgiving leftovers better than the actual meal?
I usually eat more the day after Thanksgiving. Traditionally, it was the day that we put up Christmas decorations, so moving all the boxes and stuff around worked up an appetite.

I like cold turkey and stuffing, so yes the leftovers are just as good as the main feast.
