Please don't tell me you believe that. You've got to be kidding me.

Seriously, How the heck would anyone believe that!

GoogleGulp is hilarious: As an April Fool's joke a couple years back, Google parodied its own G-Mail with GoogleGulp.

As in harddriving it, or just point-and-click for the URL page?

Anyway, I don't want Google in my YouTube. I've a feeling they're going to mess everything up. And I have some unfinished buisness there. Like, seriously unfinished buisness.

And how could anyone actually believe Google Gulp? I thought it was an actual RAM increasing download, but when I realized that doing it from a store was impossible, I knew it was fake. Sure, took me longer, but I didn't believe anything I heard.

I went to highschool with a guy nicknamed "Goo".. Gootube would be Jonathan's personal internet.

I go into the Activity window in Safari, and then I find a .flv file, it would be a few megs. Then I click on the file and download it. I put it through iSquint and done.

You have to sift through site code to find the file.

Ah-ha! Your secret is out!!

As for the possible merger, I'd love it. It would mean I could merge the funny internet videos and funny youtube videos threads. Wait, I could do that anyway.

It may be good, may be bad. I think it all depends on how they control the sites, if they keep everything the same or not. And by the way...
It's an online video MONOPOLY!!!
I've been dying to say that all day.

Um..... they never said that YouTube and Google Video were merging.... just that Google bought YouTube. There ain't gonna bee any GooTube anytime soon, at least I hope.

I also hope that Google doesn't try to stamp out all the copyrighted stuff. NOES! DON'T TAKE MY "YU-GI-OH: THE ABRIDGED SERIES" AWAY FROM ME! :P

Of course, even if they tried, there's no way they'd get it all. Wasn't YouTube already trying to get rid of illegally lifted stuff like that? :?

You know you can comment on googles videos too... and in my opinion, youtube is slower.... and the search less effective. But, meh, to each his own.

At least, that's how I do it.

Long story short? The first part gets the YouTube HTML page for the video, finds various bits of information from it, uses it to find the video, and downloads it. The second part converts it into .avi format (which plays nicer in MPlayer than .flv).

Short story long? Anything by Dickens.

You probably don't, unless you're using Linux...

I was just showing off my 1337 h4xx0r skillz... :P

Well, you can get Perl, wget and MPlayer/MEncoder for Windows, but they're a pain to set up...

Not quite... It's just a different operating system. Like Mac OS, or Windows or DOS..
It's based on UNIX, which has been around longer than the KOT.

Phlip, I'm curious. What do you pass into the program as ARGV? I'm just curous. I'm sure I could figure it out if I wasn't half asleep.

The part after "v=" in the url, basically the ID of the video. Or, alternatively, you can just copy and paste the entire URL, which is what I usually do (it's much easier, though you have to remember to escape the &'s) - the first regex in the script checks if it's a full url and extracts the video ID automagically.
