Apparently Google may buy YouTube. I think that would be awesome, like some sort of a mix of Google Video and YouTube.

The article doesn't go into any specifics about anything, so.. boo hoo.

Goo-Tube?

I never really liked Google Video.

I dunno, I have mixed feelings on this. What would happen to the insane amount of content on Google Video? Would they move it over to Youtube or just get rid of it entirely? Hmm...

Of course, this means we get GooTube! Or Yougle Video, whichever.

EDIT: Dangit, Sparks beat me to the punch.

I'm guessing they would keep it right next to the YouTube stuff.

I would definitely say YAY! I've been sorta wanting something like this to happen, but I didn't think there was actually a chance...

I agree though, Google Video is freakin' huge and bad quality.

Google and YouTube together? Either this can be really really good, or really really bad. I'm hoping for the first one.

What would happen to my precious stash of legally questionable cartoons? Wah! :p

But some people post H*R DVD bits in there, like that old Pom Pom True thing. That's just wrong. :pom:

Do you think Google would kill off (or at least try to) the illegal content?

Well, it site has its own good features. I say if they can merge them the site would become better then both combined.

I always preferred YouTube--you can comment on videos and stuff, the quality seems to always be better, and whenever I search for something, I don't ever get those pesky old people interviews that have nothing to do with what I was searching for. Searching for stuff on Google Video always brings up loads of videos that have nothing to do with what I was searching for, whereas YouTube is pretty much the opposite.

Heh. I knew about this, cause I did this for a newspaper journalism class. I didn't think it was thread-worthy, but whatever.

I don't really have much of an opinion on it though.

Oh, and you could call it YouToogle.

There's a button in the lower-right corner of each video. One of the options is "Original Size". It's not always the default, that's the thing. ;)

As long as the universe isn't exposed to GoogleStar Runner, I think we'll be okay. Could you imagine Google versions of the Strong Brothers, for instance?

Precisely.

I hate Google video so I vote NO.

I like Youtube more because the videos *gasp* actually load on my crappy dial-up connection. Slowly, albeit.

YouTube is absolutely perfect for my needs; which for the most part consist of looking up old music videos from the 1980s. They have quite a few selections, and said selections load up fairly quickly.

Google Video, however, is much slower for me. Meh.

I don't know if you understand - Youtube isn't changing to Google video, Google is possibly buying YouTube. They're not just going to take all the YouTube videos and transfer them to Google Video. The good parts of YouTube will mostly be the same. It would probably even stay in the same place. Google would hopefully just add some features and have it under a more reliable server.

Ohhhhhhhh. That makes a lot more sense. I think it would rule, then.
