The time period is what it all depends on, though. If he's saying that Americans today are reminiscent of her, then he's in the wrong, and is certainly not helping himself. If he's saying she was the same as all Americans in Obama's childhood era, then he's accurate, but still probably not helping his cause.

Add Obama's comment about his grandma to the List of Things That Would Be Racist If a White Person Said Them.\

Can you imagine?

"My black grandma is racist as all get out. She's a typical black person."

It would never fly.

Why are we still looking into race as a factor of everything?

Am I still allowed to reply to really old parts of this thread?

Here's my thing... I'm much more affected by how someone is dressed and how they are acting than by their skin color. Bill Cosby? Not threatening. I love that guy. Tupac Shakur? Scares me to death. Why? They're both black, right?

Tupac dresses like a gangster. He acts like a gangster. Cosby does not.

So if I'm walking down the street and someone dressed threateningly glares at me while holding a gun, I'm going to be threatened by that person. Doesn't matter if they're white, black, mexican, Indian, French, etc.

I can pretty much guarantee you that if you had ever run into Tupac on the street, he would not have threateningly glared at you while holding a gun, no matter how he was dressing that day.

Essentially, are you saying you'd like all black people to act and dress more like white people, just like Bill Cosby has done?

But wouldn't the person saying this be considered black? :p
Gotta love that one-drop rule (that white people invented to keep the white race pure). In this case, the person is a quadroon, which is well within the bounds of blackhood.

There is no such thing as acting and dressing like a white person. The fact that you say there is makes you racist.

Let me guess, you criticize Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods for "acting white."

Who says that the way Bill Cosby dresses is 'like a white person'? I'd say it's rather racist to associate dressing like a gangster with 'like a black person' and dressing a little nicer with 'like a white person.'

Well yeah, probably. But maybe the grandson was adopted, or the grandmother was already only 1/4 black, making it possible that the grandson was only 1/16th black.

blackhood.

I've never heard the word "blackhood" before. I don't know why but it seemed really funny when I first read it.

How am I supposed to have any fun in here if calling someone a racist doesn't elicit any kind of response?

R&P is dead. Weep for R&P.

Well, according to his profile, Amorican hasn't even visited the forum since you responded.

But yes, it kind of is dead without Didymus, Jitka, WHF, Inverse Tiger, InterruporJones, and stuff...
