i imagine him to be like the sun- extremely bright and causes light to be everywhere

rather, if you look at the sun, he looks just like that

I only believe we are an interdependence, that's how our fate works because we all have someone else to be thankful for, that and science, but If I did believe in god, it would be some other soul on the earth, we all depend on each other, and your special kind of god might look like a figure in history, a close friend, or some complete stranger.

But Buhubs, that by definition would not be God. Maybe an idol, but not God in any true sense.

...but if God DID appear like the creepy Burger King king, and I knew it was him, and he said "Where is your God now?", I'd be all like "umm, right in front of me"

Well, I don't know why I'm posting anyway, there is no god in my eyes, the only thing that makes us and what's around us is an interdependence and everything else is carried by science.

as if I did believe I meant god embodied them, but no I don't believe

Are you people talking about me again? I mean, we all know that I'm The King.

Whenever I think of God as an image, I think of that one painting with God touching....Adam's(maybe?) finger, though when I'm thinking about His image NOT off hand, I think that when you go to heaven, whatever you think the ideal God would look like, he does in your eyes.

Right on! God looks human, probably only way better looking than any of us. But in basic form, he looks like us.

This thread really interests me. I personally am torn between multiple ideas. First, the more basic, would be that He just looks like some other guy, y'know? I mean, if He made us in His image, then wouldn't He have the same basic form as any man? ...'Cept with an extra rib, maybe =S I have heard of people thinking of the possibility that being made in His image just refers to our pre-sin morality/mentality/et cetera, which sounds entirely plausible to me. But then when you read about how He covered Moses' eyes when He passed by him so as to only show His "back" (I think in this context, back is meant to speak of where He was, not the section of a body between the waist and shoulders) because no human could handle actually seeing Him, don't you think that implies He looks different than man? Or is it maybe just that His "body" is so amazingly perfected that we couldn't even comprehend it (the reason I quoted body is because it says in the Bible that our bodies are of the world--which God certainly wouldn't have if we left them behind when even we entered His Kingdom...which might just mean these bodies we have today and not the bodies Adam/Eve had before sin came into the world and corrupted most everything)? Or maybe, He's in a completely new-to-us dimension. I've heard of the theory that YHVH is in the fourth dimension, which is supposed to give some kind of possible explanation of his omnipresence. 'Course, I know nothing of an experiment in the fourth dimension to prove that, but it is just a theory. So really, I don't have a pinned-down idea of what He looks like. But I really don't think it's something to dwell on and will just be a nice little surprise to find out when we enter His Kingdom =)

If anyone already posted something to this effect in this thread, then I apologize. I just didn't have the patience to read through it all.

Yup, I comletely agree with you on that. We were made in God's own image.

I don't really think the father has flesh and bones in that way. When I think of God as a person, I think of Jesus...

Yes, I was. I probably could have clarified it with a ^ next to my post.
