Just a note:

The whole FLDS polygamist compound in Texas thing?

Yeah, not us.

We don't practice polygamy, we don't force teenagers to marry old men, our women don't wear pioneer dresses and long, braided hair.

That is all.

There really does seem to be a disproportionately large number of Mormons here, but maybe that's just because the mormons are the only ones who talk about their religion on a regular basis, which makes it seem like there're more than there really are.

As for me, I'm Catholic. Original Recipe Christianity, all the way. :eekdance:

What kind of Catholic?
Roman Catholic? Russian Orthodox? Eastern Orthodox? etc...

About 80% Roman Catholic, 20% Russian Orthodox through my grandparents. Being Catholic's not bad, but pretty much everything about the Russian Orthodox church is just cooler.

Oh, President Monson's talk was amazing. "Please don't let your dad touch.....the microwave...or the dishwasher...or the washing machine...."
I just LOVE him! He's an amazing Prophet. :)

And yes, we're totally into clean cheesy, family fun so H*R is perfect. BYU students quote it all the time. Yesm I love being Mormon. :)

Also, I loved Pres. Monson's talk in the priesthood session. Haha, his stories are great...

Yeah, they are. I had no clue that he could wiggle his ears like that! I mean, it wasn't just a wiggle, it was like an earthquake up there man! Okay, I'm exaggerating, but still it was really cool.

So, let me ask this. President Monson is considered the "prophet," right? How does that work? Is that just like a title for spiritual leader, like Pope or Patriarch or whatever, or is he actually considered to speak God's word, John the Baptist-style?

John the Baptist, Abraham, Noah, Moses, yep.

We believe he speaks the word of God for us in 2008, just like Isaiah spoke the word of God for the people in 600 BC.

That's Jehovah's Witnesses.

Mormon missionaries don't even leave their apartments until 9:30 most of the time.

I was referring to the missionaries.

You would have to listen to/read the talk to understand the joke.
