Well, the longest living US President has died.

I feel kinda bad. When I saw this, I could only think of the SNL skit..

"He was delicious".

Guess we'll get to see if politics can be put aside in DC during his funeral.

Well, usually they're good at that. Note that I said usually, not all the time. For a Presidential funeral though, I'm pretty sure that there won't be too much trouble.

Well this leaves only four living presidents now. Ramrod's boy, Jimmy Carter, Bush 41, Bill Clinton and Bush 43.

I wonder how they will remember the man with the Fourth Shortest Presidential Term in US History.

Well, all I hear about when they talk about him is how he's the only President not to be elected. He was appointed to the VP spot, and then after Nixon resigned, he took over the presidency.

Heh, I grew up on the same street as Ford (70 years later, of course), a couple miles down:

Creepy. He lived only 45 days longer than Reagan. But I respect that man for keeping things from going crazy after the Nixon thing.

And bringing back the economy, don't forget that. (To thosethat don't know that, it was about to crash when Nixon resigned, and Ford brought it back at the end of his three years SOURCES: CNBC Financial, Bloomberg, FOX News)

And it's pretty funny how that came from the one president who wasn't elected :D

It's been quite a day for me. Gerald Ford was laid to rest today in Grand Rapids, me and Ed's part of the state. I went to Grand Rapids this morning and stood in line for an hour to pass by his casket. I also shook hands with Michael Ford. What an honor for people in West Michigan to be able to do this for our President.

Rest in peace, Jerry.

Yay, I wasn't the only one. I stood in line for 2 hours (at 3 in the morning, if I had gone at a normal time I probably would've had to be there for more like 8). Then I went to watch the procession and the 21-plane "Missing Man" flyover thing. I got 2 hours of sleep, but it was interesting.
