Please pray for Eric Volz, a 27-year old American being unjustly held in a Nicaraguan prison on murder charges. See Friends of Eric Volz for details. This is urgent! |

Whoa. That's a shame. I hope he gets out soon, and possibly gets some reimbursement. |

What, do you for some reason doubt the ability of the Nicaraguan legal system? BLASFOMY! |

Well, why would he be held in a Nicaraguan prison unless he did something? Exactly, He did something, so now he has to pay. |

Exactly, He did something, so now he has to pay. Oh yes, helping a grieving family does constitute arrest, doesn't it? It would help if you actually READ that page, Pepsi. |

Exactly, He did something, so now he has to pay. Did you, or anyone else stop to think that Nicaraguan government is most likely completely different then our own? Anyways, PRAYING URGENT BUSINESS |

Exactly, He did something, so now he has to pay. COLA, come on, are you even sure he did something? Is the Nicaraguan system of justice infallible? Can you please try to be a bit more sensitive to his family? |

Now that it appears that I don't have to play referee in a shouting match, I'll weigh in on this. While I won't go as far as COLA and say he's guilty, I do think that there might be more to this case than the website is saying. I am a little skeptical when I hear "This guy is innocent and he was several hours away from the crime scene when it happened". Of course, I know NOTHING about the legal system in Nicaragua so, perhaps, it's common practice to arrest Americans and detain them for no reason. |

Just to clarify on the "He did something wrong, he got what he deserved." Or the above post by Mr. Rad. Central American legal systems differ very much from our own, or even Mexico's. Theirs are closer to Communist Russia than ours. You can sneeze on the wrong day of the week and the police will arrest you just for the heck of it... Other times someone is murdered, and they saw a foreigner there and say "Oh, that dude is the one, get him." Without any evidence whatsoever... |

Other times someone is murdered, and they saw a foreigner there and say "Oh, that dude is the one, get him." Without any evidence whatsoever... My former high school band director and his wife went down there in November to adopt their daughter and they didn't get arrested (and they're OBVIOUSLY foreigners there).. Not saying that they disprove the "all foreigners get arrested" thing. Like I said, I've never been there, so I can't say for certain. I'm just shocked that people aren't questioning this website at all. Just because it's on the internet doesn't mean it's giving you the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. Do I think he's innocent? I don't know. Do I think he's guilty? I don't know. Will I lose any sleep either way? Probably not. I don't mean to sound heartless, but there are things that I worry more about. Am I playing down the importance of an innocent man being held? I'm trying not to play it down in the grand scheme of things, but in my world, it's not quite as important as other things. Anyone else think this is turning into R&P? I'm-a move it over there now. |

Oh, I wasn't disagreeing, he may have in fact done something, I was just trying to say that oftentimes people get arrested for no reason, backing the website up. I don't entirely trust the website either, but I do enough so I think he is innocent. |

Fair enough. You're probably right. If you are, then I hope he's found innocent. |

My thoughts exactly. Although, chances are stuff like this happens alot. The Press probbly isn't going to cover it since it's too small a story. |

Yeah, the Tennessean is the biggest paper in Nashville (I think), so it counts. How far did you have to dig in the google results to find that? I couldn't find anything but blogs for the first 2 or 3 pages. |

Ah, thanks Shwoo. For a moment there, I was wondering if the whole thing was some kind of elaborate scam. |
