Ok, it's official, these guys should not be charged with anything.
My dad, who is second only to Nancy Grace when it comes to condemning anyone who is so much as accused of jaywalking to 5000 years hard labor and/or the chair, has said that it was a poorly thought out advertising attempt and not anything criminal.

My dad never says ANYONE is innocent (well, except himself, of course).

I don't know which makes me angrier, everyone in Boston completely freaking out or the Internet completely freaking out back at them.

Well, as I've said, it wasn't everyone. Mostly people over 30.

I find it real safe that I live in a country where a small obmb could go unnoticed for three weeks.

Ok, I used to live in Boston but now I live in Israel, the teror capital of the world. I really think that they should've chilled out; here, they just put some lello tape around it and zap it, but in boston they have to shut down the city!

Boston sucks, and they have Harvard. Just goes to show that Yale is the better college.

You know, if something like this happens again, they think nothing of it, and it turns out to be nothing, someones gonna do something and cause their not doing something to end up screwed.

Wow. It makes me think that Boston is getting blamed a little too much. Based on what the police knew, it could've been a bomb, and they were just taking precautions.

Precautions?!?! They got a dude dressed like Master Chief going to detonate it! Does it really take a giant plastic suit to detonate a small plastic box?

Have you ever heard of dirty bombs? It could've easily been one of those, which would've been a catastrophe.

That is true, sort of...
But, for a box that small, you wouldn't be able to put much explosive material in there, meaning that you couldn't spread whatever radioactive material you put in there very far. Also, had it been radioactive, there would have been some radioactivity (sure, the box could have been shielded, but that would have further reduced the amount of explosive and radioactive material you could put in there... I think.

Either way, once they x-rayed it, they should have been able to determine that it was not a bomb.

I get what you're saying, but I think they're over-reacting. Not even NYC goes crazy everytime someone drops a briefcase on a street corner (this wasn't a briefcase, I know, but it was about that size).
