Oh my god, and you people call me bigoted!

Okay, heres what this entire discussion on the last few pages boils down to:
  • Discussion about gays and why people Discriminate against them and why the law hasn't done anything.
  • Wes says something bigoted
  • everyone gets ticked and complains
  • we go back on topic

Seriously, I don't think this thread is going to go anywhere anymore, its just going to end in a flame and a lock.

i know i'm perpetuating off-topic stuff. but you and i fully agree so seldomly that i would like to bask in it. if you're going to believe in any type of christianity, you sure better believe that he died for all of humanity, not just one branch of christianity.

ultimately, COLA is right.
maybe a lock, mods?

I'd say hold up on the lock because I'm gonna make a thread that'll try to suck away this type of discussion, but then again, pretty much everyone agrees that, outside of marriage and religion (which this thread is NOT about), gays shouldn't be discriminated against in the workplace and other daily life things. So unless someone wants to put forth some arguments not based on any religion for why there might need to be discrimination against gays, there's probably nothing else to say here.

Then if everyone agrees that it's a bad thing to do, why is it still a problem? Why are people STILL voting down bills that would make such discrimination illegal?

Fair enough...but can anyone explain what goes on in the minds of people who vote against these bills?

You DO realize that the Catholic sect was pretty much the ORIGINAL Christian sect, right? (Please correct me if I'm wrong about this, y'all.) There's a REASON the Protestants are called "Protestants", ya know...

Why don't you people lay off of Wes. He's allowed to have his beliefs, same as you. Don't get mad just because they clash with yours.

It's not a matter of that. I can respect the fact that his beliefs are different from mine. The thing is, he's acting like all homosexuals are practically possessed, and I really have to take serious issue with that--especially considering the fact that I know homosexuals who are also devout Christians.

That's not what I was talking about. I was talking about people getting on his case because he doesn't think Catholic beliefs are correct.

I honestly fail to see how it's "disgustingly backwards and ignorant" to believe that Catholic beliefs are incorrect. I'm not talking about his views on homosexuality, I'm talking about how ramrod said that it's bigoted for him to say that Catholics beliefs are wrong. I don't see how it's bigoted to say that someone's beliefs are incorrect. I doubt ramrod thinks that Muslim beliefs have power with God, but that doesn't make him bigoted.

It's the fact on how he said it. He basically said that "I am right, so they are wrong". Now tell me, does that not sound a bit ignorant to you?

I'm not trying to state that my opinions are true. I'm not saying that his opinions are wrong. I'm saying that some of them are offensive.

Tell me Wes, why are Catholics "wrong"? Do we not believe that Jesus is the Christ and Savior? Do we not believe that he suffered, dies, and was buried, and then was risen? But please, PM me with your response.

As for this thread, I'm having to agree that it's going down in a flame war. I'm locking this. When I'll unlock it, I don't know.
