Actually, Joseph Smith didn't make it to the large salt lake. He was assassinated in Illinois.

i'm going to take a guess and say religious persecution.

Actually, Joseph Smith didn't make it to the large salt lake. He was assassinated in Illinois.

And I know that our history has some weird stuff in it. I never said it didn't.

Actually, he was massacred in jail, a mob that didn't like him killed him. More of a riot-killing than an assassination. I'm pretty sure that's what my history book said about him anyway.

As Didy said, I'm a Lutheran, my dad is a pastor (Three Sundays a month, he fills in for churches that can't afford a full-time pastor)

He was in a jail in Illinois, charged with treason. A mob of men stormed the jail, and with the help of the jailers, killed him and his brother.

It was not other prisoners who killed him.

You call it riot-killing, I call it assassination.
