1988: Bush
1984: Reagan
1980: Reagan
1976: Carter
1972: George McGovern
1968: Hubert Humphrey
1964: Johnson
1960: Kennedy
1956: Eisenhower
1952: Eisenhower
1948: Truman
1944, 1940, 1936, 1932: Roosevelt

With exception of 1948, 1972 and 1988, I pretty much went with NY.

A Goldwater Republican in modern times is known as a Libertarian. I wouldn't have voted for his in '64. He came off as a little too extreme, but later on I would have, if I lived in Arizona.
