I'm speechless. Just... yeah. I pity George Washington for having had his face put on such an awful thing.

At least this has a bright side. Republicans finally have something to put on their Freedom fries. (After all, this is AMERICA'S ketchup, made from only the finest tomatoes (originally from Italy), and, according to the About W Ketchup page, pieces of Ronald Reagan.)

I also love how W Ketchup notes how Heinz has foreign factories. That's kind of necessary when you trade in food items, since unlike things like cars (which the Republicans are A-OK with being made overseas), food items are a tad perishable, so they need foreign factories for local distribution (not reimportation).

See, this is just another company using Nationalism to scam people. If this ketchup is made in America, it's better. What's scary is that this is amazingly similar to the war in Iraq:
1. W Ketchup (America) is American
2. Heinz (Iraq) isn't
3. We "spread freedom" to them (or in the Ketchup case, run Heinz out of business)
4. America prevails

I don't get into this pseudo-nationistic food stuff.. I still put Heinz Ketchup on my FRENCH FRIES and eat my pretzels with FRENCH'S mustard (mustard is really good on pretzels, yes I'm strange).

Probably the whole OK thing. Before then, French was the universal language. Maybe that's why they're mad.

It isn't America's beef, just a very vocal minority that is upset because france didn't help with the invasion of Iraq, and voted against it..

Sometimes an overly vocal minority can seem like a majority. See: Marriage Amendment issues in 11 states. I didn't think these issues would pass in several of the states, as I thought there was a sound opposition to them. I don't know if they didn't show up to vote, or if they were just REALLY vocal about their opposition.

It's not just the current war in Iraq (which I do not support either). French people are just, well, French. They try to act all superior to everybody else in the world. They think they are so cultured, when half of their culture is based on pornography anyway. Yes, at one time they were a cultural Mecca of the world. But then came the mid 20th century, and people quit pandering to them like they were so great. Half of them speak English, but if you actually visit France, they try to act like they don't. And even if you try to speak French to them, they act like you are a total jerk for even attempting to use their superior language. Stupid cheese-eating surrender monkeys! Heck, the coolest people I ever met in France WERE CHINESE! (But I did enjoy my visit to the Moet Chandon factory. And the Louvre was pretty cool, too).

The Germans, on the other hand, were generally pretty cool. Very friendly folks, those Germans.

To be fair, the U.S. and France have always had a love-hate relationship. The present ingratitude for our profound sacrifices during WW2 motivates most middle-aged male Americans to use derogatory phrases about France. Voting against Iraq's invasion was just the 100th instance of France generally opposing everything the U.S. does in international politics. I think France was even against our putting down the Taliban. That was especially insulting after France had expressed such false concern over the World Trade Tower destruction and loss of life.

Now, having expressed the general opinion on behalf of Yankees, let me make a sharp distinction. While I don't like the French government or it's decisions, policies, or ideologies, I actually like French people. I've met several, and liked them all. So don't misinterpret calling France a "cheese eatin' surrender monkey" with disliking individual French people.

My personal prejudice against France was cultivated by the most Democraty-party endorsing teacher I ever had. It was nurtured into full bloom by the little bits of history I've studied.

I met a lot of nice French people when I was there.

I found the French to be a lot nicer than the English, at least in their attitudes toward young American tourists.

One of the coolest guys I know is from France. In fact, he's a professor at Brown (I think).

I don't know why but I cracked up when I first saw this.
