I found this interesting.

Thoughts? Even though I'm agnostic, I feel terrible for this woman to have to go through these painful doubts while caring for the sick in India.

Have you seen what Penn&Teller have to say about this woman on Bull[crap]? I don't agree with them on everything, but they make valid arguments against her about her doing anything to help people.

Look it up on Youtube.

Penn & Teller are pretty much full of the very stuff themselves.

No, they just have opinions like me and you.

On an off note: I loved their one on bottled water, Roffle.

I've read a lot of biographies of saints and such, and one thing they all have in common, as long as they're real biographies and not the folk myths that grew up around some of them, is that they struggled with faith like everyone else, often much more intensely. Saints are still people, they're still imperfect. Everyone, even them, has imperfect faith, they just notice their imperfection more, and that hurts. Sometimes they'll write things that seem to be exaggerations to less saintly people, stuff about feeling like they have no faith, even though their actions clearly show their faith. That's why that one guy in the article said these letters actually help her case.

Of course, that's pretty convenient because if Mother Teresa actually did lose faith it could always be blown off with the explanation I just gave. Still, she's one person, and one person's spiritual struggles can never be generalized to everyone, no matter how famous that person is.

I think this just goes to show she's a human being just like the rest of us. Even the greatest people struggle with themselves. I think these letters might go a long way in showing us all what it means to be human.

Personally, I don't think any one of us (Christians) is superhuman enough to not doubt at some point or another. Being doubtful is human, and human is what we are.
