I have no idea where you've been the past few years, but what you've said here is one of the most ignorant things you could say. There IS Global Warming. Does it have a dramatic effect on the earth right now? Perhaps not right this minute, but it eventually will. And if future generations keep doing the same thing we're doing now ("oh it's fine it's too far in the future for us to care about"), then I feel bad for the generations in the future. I was speaking of it in general right now. It is not a problem at the moment. As has been stated before, more pollutants are spewed into the air naturally then by humans. ![]() Then technically it is real, and not some "media conspiracy lies". Technically, I was talking about the media saying it was a problem. I was saying it's not a problem; it does exist, but it's not as much of a problem as the media says. |

Everyone's complaining about this whole global warming thing, saying it doesn't exist, it's just a big media scandal. Can't they find something else to complain about? It's not a big deal! OH NO! THE MEDIA IS TELLING US NOT TO POLLUTE THE WORLD! IT'S SO WRONG!! |

OH NO! THE MEDIA IS TELLING US NOT TO POLLUTE THE WORLD! IT'S SO WRONG!! It's not so much that as it is "FORGET ACID RAIN! FORGET POLLUTED LAKES AND STREAMS! IF YOU DRIVE YOUR CAR, YOU ARE GOING TO MELT THE ICECAPS AND FLOOD THE WHOLE PLANET!!1!!ONE!" The issue isn't that they're making a deal of it, it's how big a deal they're making of it (and how they're neglecting real problems in doing so). |

So don't listen to the media. Who cares what CNN or FOX thinks about scientific issues? You're probably as smart as, or smarter than, most of the people you see on TV, so why take their word for it? The media has a checkered history with the proper reporting of science as it is. I bet StrongRad over there could point you towards some peer-reviewed journals so you could see what the scientists themselves are saying about it. Remember, the media is a filtered view of the world; filtered by editors, filtered by by owners and magnates, and sometimes filtered by advertisers. If you want the real story always do your best to go to the source. Mike |

If you want the real story always do your best to go to the source. Mike Don't even get me started with "the media" on this issue... The reporters want you to boil your entire work (months, if not years) into a 10 second soundbyte. It doesn't work, to say the least. If you want some idea of the uncertainties in climate change, it'd help to know how we even measure temperature change. Do a Google Scholar search for John Christy and/or RW Spencer. From there, try looking at what they've cited, and the works those people have cited. Papers by Chris Landsea, J. Chan, (The Godfather) William Gray are pretty good for tropical (hurricane) meteorology as it relates to climate. KA Emanuel also writes good papers about tropical stuff, except when he gets into climate. Landsea (me, too) has shown how his "link" between climate change and hurricane intensity is flawed. Strangely enough, I don't have any works on Google Scholar about tropical meteorology (even though that's what I studied). I DO, however have couple papers (or an abstract for a paper, anyway) on there dealing with the same severe weather event. |

The only time he said it is after I called him out on it. I'm saying if he had said that right when he made his original post, we wouldn't be having this discussion. |

Oh. My bad. I thought quote was from StrongRad, not STupendous. Sorry about the mix-up there. |
