YEs, it would technically be Manslaughter, but the mother couldn't get arrested for it due to her trying to save her, yet failing at it horribly.

So, in essance, a mother trying to save her daughter accidentally kills her. What a horrible thought, I can't wait for the Lifetime original movie depicting this.

of course thats selling out, but its a whole different story for another time.

Who want's cheese cake?

"Wants" is not a contraction or a possessive. (Sorry. Pet peeve.)

She didn't kill herself though, she only severely wounded herself. The final blows were dealt by the Mom (making this sound like some kind of epic action movie with swordfights and flying beavers...)

Yeltsenic is not posting here. Are you mistaking him with COLA?

Hmm, very heavy, I can only imagine how this is greatly improving Facebook's image.

And yet people still use Myspace regularly.

I agree. But the reality is that some people in a certain frame of mind don't see that so clearly.

Wait - but why did the family create the Myspace page in the first place? I'm still a little confused on that part.

Because the fat one that attempted suicide didn't want to be friends with the neighbor girl, and they thought she would be talking smack about their daughter, so they made that myspace to get to know what she was saying. Then, they thought "Okay, she's not saying much, lets ruin her life" and BAM! Mom crushes her.

Anyone who's dumb enough to think that a 6 foot high closet bar and a leather belt could hang a 5 foot tall girl isn't someone who want's to kill themselves, its just a cry for attention; Kinda like taking alot of asprin and calling your friend telling them that you're gonna OD on it. Or like cutting the wrong way.

I don't see how this says anything about either site.

If you're stupid enough to take something some person you don't know says to you on the internet and let it drive you to killing yourself, I don't see how it has anything to do with the site you're using.

If that sounds heartless, I meant it that way.

Back when I was a teen, we didn't kill ourselves over things like this. Todays teens seem to act like every little problem is the biggest problem anyone has ever faced. Back in the day, I don't think teenage suicide was as prevalent as it is now. Perhaps we were just too emo to be emo. Maybe we were too cool for emo. I'm not sure.
I'm sure Didymus, Jones, or BTG could back me up on this.

Note: I don't mean to sound like a jerk here, my text just comes across like that.

exactly! We tell Abu to kill himself all the time, but has he? Nope, not yet at least.

you know guys, I've been looking at this I really hate this, and it makes me angry and depressed, but nobody did anything illegal. yes, there will certainly be a wrongful death suit, but the only criminal charge possible might be libel, if that. it's a sad fact of the American justice system.

I believe that this is not the family`s fault, or at least they shouldn`t be prosecuted. Maybe charged for harassment, but definitely not for manslaughter or anything.

Lol, Myspace.

I was going to say something about my opinion on all of this, but after reading more about it, I realized nothing more needs to be said.

This is none of our business. It's a real tragedy that it happened, but it's none of our business. This is a private family matter and the media honestly shouldn't have reported it in the first place. It's not necessary that we know this. But of course, the news couldn't pass up such a story.

Of course not! The MYSPACE IS GOING TO RAPE YOUR CHILDREN!!!

You know, I still haven't changed my opinion of this, though. Heartless as it is, I really don't feel sorry for this kid. It's the internet. So what if someone says something bad to you?

I find the whole notion of cyber-bullying laughable. It's called "ignore" or "delete". You can press it. I promise.

No, we went on shooting sprees.

Back then when I was growing up, the internet was nothing. The internet wasn't relevant until the introduction of Yahoo and AOL. And even then the internet was not a surrogate social life. And for the majority of us who grew up back then, the internet still isn't.

StrongRad wrote:

I'll differ from you on this. When you are bullied and depressed as much as she was, when you find anyone who says anything positive to you, you will soak it up like a sponge. You will hang on every word because you think to yourself that you have found someone who understands and you will start to feel better. But when that person turns on you, you will be sent in to a state of helplessness that all the psychiatrists in the world can't pull you out of. Trust me, I have been down that road many times. The difference between this girl and myself is that I still had enough humanity left in me to save myself.
