Although it's a sort of diferent racism. It's not as much ('scuse me for saying "darkie") "hey darkie get off my lawn" as it is "haha you're black are you a gangster do you like watermelon". More of "all stereotypes are true" then "my color is perfect".

There is no shortage of racism in this generation.

True. I offer you YTMND as an example.

Anyway, Obama for me. I'm sick of the Clintons, though I'm sure H. would make a decent president. I still prefer Obama, if only to have a guy with a name that isn't Bush or Clinton to be president during my lifetime.

Well, YTMND's racism is often meant to be satirical. Unfortunately the line is rather blurred there and sometimes it's hard to tell who is trying to be funny (and, usually failing), and who is actually racist.

I, for one, find the fact that either of you even visit YTMND appalling.

That is all.

I don't go there very much anymore. Used to be a regular, though.

But this thread really isn't the place to either attack or defend YTMND, really... my point is that humor that plays on racial stereotypes isn't necessarily racist in intent (i.e., it doesn't necessarily intend to spread a message of hatred).

Obama is made of Teflon. I highly doubt anything he says, no matter how outlandish, will stick to him in the coming months.

Hillary is doomed.

So Pennsylvania comes around today. This will probably decide the winner of this contest.

Predictions? I think Obama's gonna get a good enough lead to get him a spot in November.

Was the Daily Show with Obama good? I might see the rerun.

Looks like Hillary wins PA, unless like all of the rest of the votes go to Obama, but I don't see that happening. We'll have to see how much she wins by.

Hopefully not too much, this is getting ridiculous. The Dems need to pick someone already. It's going to be Obama, it's only a matter of time, but Hillary needs to realize that time is now.

I disagree... I like the fact that Kentucky is still in play.
I actually envy my democratic friends. Their votes in a couple weeks will actually count.
Oh well, I still get half a day off work.

Is it too late to cross over? You only have to register 30 days in advance... except, of course, maybe you've registered already. Anyways, I heard that there were something like 215,000 Republican crossovers today in Penn (out of about a million total voters), and in Mississippi, 24% of Hilary's votes were from Republicans. Now that's what I call strategery!

Also, if Michigan comes through with this do-over primary, I may get to vote again for the Democrats. They might not let people who already voted in the Republican primary vote again, but I think it would be sweet to have voted twice already so soon after turning 18...

Why did Hillary win Pennsylvania?

Because the Republicans held their votes.

Obama's still got a comfortable lead. At least I'd call over 100 comfortable.

In KY the rolls had to be "set" about a month ago.
Also, I don't know if I could cross over. The Kentucky democrats (particularly Guv'ner Steve) are a bunch of clowns. They campaigned on a platform of ethics (which is REALLY funny if you look at their past), education, and health. Then, Guv'ner Stevie gets elected. General Assembly results: a 10% cut for university funding, a 1% pay raise for elementary school teachers (even though, like state workers, they are mandated by law to give teachers a 5% annual raise), cuts to health and social services (and no increase in the cigarette tax), and a rather significant cut to the Justice cabinet's public defenders and public advocates.

Yeah, that's some real leadership.

Hillary has to be trying to pull off a popular vote at this point to intimidate the delegates. I don't see her winning otherwise.

Wow, Hillary... gettin' a little desperate.

She has political connections but I don't see her having enough to still beat Obama if the race continues in this trend.

Post subject:  Re: Obama or Clinton?

I tend to agree, but with how the popular votes have been causing issues for politicians in the past, if she does go that route, she can still- well I'll just say it's pretty much her only chance.

Really though, the whole popular vote thing is kinda ridiculous if you think about it too hard.

I'm pulling for Obama, anyway. Maybe that doesn't mean much from someone whose state voted in a dumb wrestler for a governer but hey, I didn't vote for that guy. :P

Well yeah, unless they're really rich (Mitt), pretty much runs on donations from people. It's just that Clinton is significantly behind Obama in funds, so she has to beg (even though her victory speeches are pathetic anyways...).

I can see basing your campaign mainly on donations, but begging people to give you money? That's just lame.

Yeah, I'm not a girl, but I want Obama to win.

Hehe Hillary won Pennsylvania.

Knowing that she and Obama will be at each others' throats for the next four or five months offsets how crappy it is that Obama, Hillary, and McCain are the best we can do.

I think McCain is fantastic.
The fact that Coulter and Limbaugh hate him make him seem that much more desirable.

Yesterday in Inez, KY (eastern KY), McCain invited a heckler to the stage, telling her she should use the microphone so people could hear her without her having to scream.

I would like McCain if he weren't so...authoritarian, I dunno. I like his tax policies and all, but he supported the Patriot Act and staying in Iraq and...ugh, who knows.

Post subject:  Re: Obama or Clinton?

McCain's not a bad guy, I think, but I don't want him to be president. I'm just glad he ended up being the nominee rather than Romney or (shudder) Huckabee, but I'd still rather see a Democrat (any Democrat) win the White House. Actually, of all the possible Republicans, the only better choice they could have made was Chuck Hagel, if he had run. (NOT RON PAUL, WHO IS A PSYCHOPATH)

This election is shaping up to be a pretty good one for me and my ilk.

So wait how is wanting to get out of Iraq, lowering taxes, and limiting government psychopathic again?

..Nevermind, I need to gb2/the Republican thread again.

Anyway Obama probably shouldn't have said that stuff about Pennsylvanians that made him lose, but it was pretty much the truth.
