Because nobody saw the meaning in the other one, here's one for the Republicans.

I really don't like any of them all that much, to be honest.

Ron Paul FTW.

He's the only Republican who voted against the Iraq War and against the Patriot Act, and he's basically the only candidate who still respects Constitutional liberties over Utopian "security".

Also, he has a lot of political experience. He was already running for President when Obama was still in diapers.

EDIT: Mitt Romney dropped out, remove him from the list.

Technically he suspended his campaign.

Huckabee is a jerk, McCain will destroy the world, and Ron Paul is a fairly intelligent man. So I'm gonna say Ron Paul, although I'm not particularly fond of any of the three.

I still don't see where people get that McCain is going to destroy the world.

Also, I've yet to see anyone really explain Ron Paul's appeal. "ZOMG HE IS DIFFERENT!! MUST VOTE!" is about all I have ever gotten.

Well, he voted against the Patriot Act, for one thing, and actually wants to restore people's revoked Constitutional liberties.

Also, he wants to leave more matters up to the states and to eliminate the federal income tax.

If you count Ron Paul then you have to count Alan Keyes.

People think that he's so pro-war that he'd do another Hiroshima or reinstate the draft or something like that.

Oh, no I don't. Alan Keyes is worthless and has much less significance than Paul, Huck, or McCain.

That'll do a lot of help for the $9.25 trillion national debt.

I don't like McCain, Paul has good ideas though they are kind of radical, I don't think the US is ready for him.

That's step one of his plan to redo taxes.
Most people don't go past this part.

There's another part: A 25-30% sales tax, nationwide.
The idea is to tax consumption, rather than earnings.

I still don't get how the last one would 'move us back to school segregation'... It looks like it's that 'voucher' idea for schools, where the government would give money to everyone to go to whatever school they want, whether it was a religious school or not (right now, people who go to a private / religious school pay for public school education in taxes and then for their own private school, which kinda sucks). So I guess it would allow for school segregation, but I doubt it actually would lead to it. Anyways, I'm still kind of against the voucher idea, because it's too radical and sudden. I think that, if not for the extra cost, most Christians would go to a Christian school, and so we would need a heck of a lot more Christian schools and a lot fewer public, non-denominational ones. Then the desired schools would be far apart, and people would have to travel farther to get to school, and while it might be more fair, it just wouldn't be that convenient.

Neither has a chance of winning, unlike Huckabee, who has a small teeny-tiny chance of maybe winning if he wins all the other states and some "super-delegates" go against the voters.

Repubs don't have super-delegates. We do a straight up, up and down vote, winner takes all. The only state where repubs don't do that is West Virginia.

Really? I thought I read somewhere that both parties have some, but one party has way way more than the other one.

You're right.
The repubs DO have some, but they're almost all high-ranking party officials. I think the democrats have several hundred more.
They call them something other than Superdelegate, though. I think it's something like RNC delegate.

I like Huckabee. And not just because of Stephen Colbert, no. It's because John McCain is secretly a democrat, and Ron Paul is...hilarious.

That's my view. Don't shoot me!

If you ask me, that isn't a strong enough reason to elect a guy who apparently doesn't believe in the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment.

Doesn't mean I'll vote for Huckabee, but the thread says, "Best Republican Candidate". Seeing as John McCain is a democrat in disguise, I don't feel like I can actually call him my "Best Republican Candidate". And Ron Paul is just laughable, yet makes some good points, I really don't think he'd be my best. And the only other option is Huckabee, since Romney dropped out. So I pick Huckabee.

You know what'd be hilarious? It's gone Bush, Clinton, Bush...Well, if Hilary wins, we're screwed, but that'd make it that much funnier.
Bush, Clinton, Bush, Clinton...and Jeb Bush.

Ah. I thought you meant McCain was too much like a Democrat, so you would vote for Huckabee over McCain.

Eh, I think he's definitely Republican. He's not as conservative as Rush Limbaugh would like, but seriously, why do we have to fight to be the 'most conservative'? Besides, Bob Dole already sent Rush a letter to STCU.

Well, supposedly he's a whole lot better than his brother. But he pretty much ruined his name.

I could never vote for Huckabee. Sorry, but going out and publicly saying "Evolution is a complete lie and never happened" is such a huge gap in logic to me it's all I'd think about. I don't like hardcore evangelicalism in politics.

I don't usually vote Republican (I'm shooting for Obama in this one), but if Hillary gets the Dem nomination I would go with McCain (who will most likely be the Repub nominee). He seems like kind of the most moderate.

Romney screwed himself over by trying to redefine his image as the really right-wing conservative guy. Not only did his past come back to haunt him a bit, but he failed to realize that after 4 years of Bush, a lot of people are looking for a more moderate candidate for president.

While I know people have problems with the whole thing, I'd much rather have a candidate who sticks with his convictions, no matter what other people might say. If you've got a politician who's willing to morally compromise himself for the sake of election, that doesn't say much for the moral character he has to begin with, and regardless of what many people are trying for, you can't have an president who's not compelled by his moral beliefs. What you have then is an amoral leader, and a scumbag.

So props to Huckabee for sticking with it.

That's not what he said. He sounded more like "I believe God created the universe, and I don't know how he did it, but I believe he was actively involved in it and that it didn't just happen by chance." Assuming that Evolution implies that we were created as a complete accident, then he would disagree with it (as would I), but if Evolution is thought of as just the process by which species grew and changed over time, he doesn't deny it. In fact, here's what he said.

But what if such a candidate really changes his mind based on reasoning and hard thought, rather than simply trying to be more popular? Surely that's commendable as well?
